Improper installation can certainly cause those side effects. I NEVER had those problems, and believe me, my ´94 EGT was pushed HARD on all sort of roadcourses, autocrosses, and even rallycrosses.

Just a comment.: The last autocross event I was at included a slammed Integra. The top of the fenders had kinks on them right over the strut towers, front & rear, left & right. The owner was much discouraged when I pointed them out to him (oops). But it was impossible to tell if it was his strut tower bars or hitting the bump stops which caused it. So I can see why you might be concerned. But that was a Honda, right?

It could be a lot of things...first thing that comes to mind is he may have bottomed out the front hard enough to bend the car slightly upwards. Hitting the bumpstops may have caused it too, but WOW that would be an awfully hard hit!

Personally, I think STBs are good. I can understand how people think it might bend up the sheet metal transferring the force, but I never had that issue, nor have I heard of it until now...I´ve never heard of an Escort having that problem either.
