I was taking off my grille to put another coat of primer on it and I looked just behind the filter of my intake and there was this little tube that comes up next to the battery that goes underneath the intake tube and *I think* into or by the radiator, anybody know what it is? It´s an open tube that I don´t think can or would do anything productive.

I was wiggling it around and it looks like what MIGHT be an alternate intake tube incase the one behind the turn signal gets flooded? But it doesn´t appear to be connected to the intake at all. :-? :-?

it´s hard to explain without actually seeing it. It´s about an inch and a half long by a half inch tall with a square opening and it goes into a round tube, it´s right there infront of the battery just behind the intake tube, it goes under the intake tube and goes towards the radiator. it just ends right there so i don´t see how it goes into the battery shroud to vent off any gases.

Yeh james...i wish i knew what that was too...i couldnt figure out that tube or the one that goes into some plastic thing thats just above the radiator...my guess was that the one that goes just above the radiator is for cooling the air that comes in...but i may be wrong..if u find out what either one does...let me know...ALSO...i got a bit of a problem..it seems that i have an antifreez leak..but i had it pressure tested and it passes(they even let me watch as they did it)..but i know i´m leakin cuz its allover the bottom of my car and it leaks on top of the tranny case...it seems appear from a spot on the right side of the engine.. where the main hose enters the engine ther is a little sensor on it and its metal...what is that? has anyone else had problems with a leak right there or leaks elsewhere...i´m DEFINATELY not taking it to a shop to get fixed cuz all they do is charge hella for a coolant system fix...help me escort gt owners........!!!!

Yeah i got frozen coolant on the top of my tranny case right there too. :-(
That sensor is probably one of them that if there´s no coolant running through it it´ll light up the "check coolant" light on your dash. last march my check coolant light lit up on my way home from mcdonalds and i got it into my driveway, opened the hood and coolant was just spewing out of one of the smaller hoses. luckily it was 10 degrees the next day so i could drive it to a shop. 73 bucks to replace the hose and refill the coolant, but that was with an oil change too.

You know it´s cold when you can drive your car without coolant. brrrrrrr. On the other hand you know it´s hot when your temp guage is already in the normal range before you start the car. 115F weather will do that to ya. Try driving without coolant then. It was in the 80´s here today. woo hoo. gotta love AZ Winters
