I have a ´95 LX with 1.9,, When the the clutch pedal comes into contact with the "clutch safty switch" the engine begins to turn over. It only starts with the turn of the key. I still need to hold the clutch in to activate the switch and get the engine to turn over when turning the key.
Once the engine is running if the "clutch saftey switch" is pressed ( when I push the clutch to the floor) it grinds the starter, Just as it would if turn the key to start while any cart is running.
Ha s anyone ever had this happen, what´s up with this?
No one I know has ever seen this type of thing before.

even though I am not sure on the cause of this, it seems like the problem is in your actual key tumbler switch. Perhaps when you start the car, the key remains in the "start" position, so whenever the clutch hits the very end of the stroke, these two conditions are met (the key is put to start and the clutch is all the way in) and then the starter has a go at it. Check to make sure if the key returns to the run position (one click back from start) when the car is running.

tell me this:
if you start the car (clutch down, key turned) and you HOLD THE CLUTCH THERE, while the car is running, does the starter grind?
