I've just gotten a '98, with an automatic that has a similarly sticky throttle.

I repaired a similar-feeling sticky throttle in my sister's Saturn (manual, which made it even more interesting) by cleaning out the throttle body- full of nasty black gunk. I think I'm going to at least check the TB Ford tomorrow... I'll post up if it cures anything.

(I wouldn't be surprised if the official word was that you aren't supposed to clean the TB in these due to a special coating- I know my Ranger's like that. But I figure if it's dirty, the coating's not doing any good anyway. On the other hand, the Ranger's got 260k miles and I've never had to clean the TB, so maybe it does work.)
