:?: I just replaced the Ignition swich on my wifes 95 automatic 4d hachback. I had a few probs getting to it to remove the old one. After searching online and reading the wonderfully enlitening Haynes book <grumble> <grumble> i tried to remove the stering wheel... to make a long story short, I couldn't get it off. Instead me and my bro removed the 4 bolts from underneeth and droped the steering column down to get to the top of the switch. Anyway, we noticed when we statred putting everything back to gether that the wheel now moved in and out about 1 inch. Must have nocked it a but to hard using the wheel puller.

Is there any way to fix this?
Is there a lock bolt or a tesioner somewhere on the column?

 P.S. Idea for the site: maybe have a how-to section where member contribute fixes and repairs, or how to disasemble/reassemble things.

There is a greenish looking plastic collor under the multifunction switch. It looks like this is the place where the wheel is moving at. the steering column stayes in place but the wheel, up to the point of that green collor moves...

Does anyone know that this piece is?
It's around the steering column underneeth the multi switch behind the wheel...

Or does anyone have a blow out diagram of the steering column?

Damn you could cut the tension with a knife between you two. What's the point?

92 you say you're sick of seeing BS posts yet you sit here and argue with people and occasionally call them names. Can't you get along with some people? I mean we all have something in common. we drive Escorts, if you can't get along with some of us, then whats going to happen if you ever happen to be at a meet when Beav or Tito happen show up? I know this makes me think twice about taking a day off of work to drive 5 hrs to meet someone.

Beav, I can tell you know a lot about cars, way more than me, and you try to come off as way more mature than I am. I admit I say stupid shit on here, but... and correct me if I'm wrong, (which I'm not) aren't you hijacking his post to basically smart off to 92 about a how he should write a tech article or STFU AFTER you told off 95sittinlo when he whined about his thread being hijacked??

All I can say to you two is kiss and make up. there isn't any need for hostility. If you don't like what someone says bite your damn lip.

Silver, sorry to do this in your post but I'm starting to get tired of seeing it. Anyway, I wish I could help but I have no idea because I haven't torn my steering wheel apart either.

Silver, I'm sorry about that. I missunderstood 92, and overreacted.

I hope you get the answers you're looking for with your thread.

Please, no more comments about what James, 92gt5spd, or I have said in this thread. If you wish to comment, do it in this new thread.

Thank you.
