I'm getting ready to replace the tie rods and other steering and suspension parts on my '93 Escort LX. I have a question what is the difference between the Ford power rack and the Mazda power rack besides using different inner tie rods? Does the Mazda rack offer a quicker turn to lock ratio than the Ford rack does? Also if I was to switch racks how much would have to be replaced besides the rack, inner tierods, outer tierods(which I'm already going to replace) and the steering rack mount bushings? - Peter

I dont know the answers, but.... The first thing I would look at would be the splines on the end of the steering stub that sticks up from the rack, versus the mating splines on the end of the steering shaft at the bottom end, just below the little U-joint. Next I would check if the hydraulic hose connections used the same sized flare nuts.
