Ok so I was playing Gran Turismo 3 last night with my Impreza Rally Sedan Prototype and when I finished the tournament I WON THE ESCORT RALLY CAR!!!!!! yeaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited, so i did one race with it and then I had to go to bed.
Anyway, I was racing it around and I noticed that it has the white headlight covers with the holes cut out for the headlights, the covers were color matched to the body which got me to thinking about it. I have AVS darkened Headlight covers....I don´t really use them from day to day sooo....I was thinking about putting them on my car, finding where the beam from the headlights comes out at and cutting a hole with a drill with a big bit on it right where the beams are, then take the rest of it and cover it in some sort of red film to make it match the body color, I´d need to cut off the sides for my turn signals. I´m kind of hesitent because I don´t wanna ruin the covers i spent 45 bucks for and it look like shit. anyone think this would look cool? cause I thought it would and then got to thinking about my clear corners and how it would be all red except the Amber color from my turn signals. I dunno. it WOULD be just one more way to stand out my Escort from the rest of the crowd.

Love that GT3 game man! It rocks! My brother won the same car on it and he won´t let me race him with it. ;-) So I got the next best thing...the Focus Rally car.... :-] Its a neck and neck race through the whole game. ;-)

rascal: I´d let you race it, i´ve got the thing hopped up to 494 horsepower, so the Focus has nothing on me, neither does the Citroen or the Impreza´s...although the prototype was givin me a hard time last night on the Swiss Alps. :)
Yes Beaverboy it looks exactly like that, only it was white instead of blue. but that looks even better!! :-]

When they gave me an office here at work, the first thing I did was buy from Ebay a 1:17 scale Escort Cossie rally car from the 1994 games. Metal body, hood opens to reveal engine, steering wheel/tires move. Pretty cool "toy". It´s now featured prominently on my desk so when you walk in, it´s like the first thing you see. I know taste is subjective, but the Cossie is just a lovely looking car. Sad to see it replaced by the Fookus.

I think I might start on the project soon, but the only thing is it´s too damned cold to go outside for elongated times. stupid wind chill. and this is Indiana, I really feel sorry for you Canadians. I need to go pick up the extra rims from DemonicGT tonight, wash my car, and I still need to put on my simulated HID driving lamps. but, again, it´s too damn cold.

hey, i did that kind of thing to my 1st gen GT, except i just spraypainted the lights and left a large circle in the middle for the headlight. If you search for ghaze24 you should find my pictures of the car with the headlights painted, i think that it looked prety good.

I think you will lose some light out of your headlights if you decide to go through with it. The one in the picture (the actual Cossie) has twin round lamps set in the fiberglass housings, not covers.

The light won´t exit the lamps through two little beams like that, it´ll exit through the entire front and middle of the lens. It will probably look good, but I´d make sure you can remove them easily at night time or install some good quality driving lamps to make up for whatever light ends up being blocked.

Yeah Beaver I see how they´re set up on the Cossworth and am well aware of the differences...I will be putting on new driving lamps and these covers are just like those black out covers you see on cars right now, all you gotta do is pop the hood and they come right off.
