I am not using the IAC on my car yet. Don't have a need for it yet or the plug at this time to hook it up anyway.

Don't ask what led to this......

Do a hard run with your car and feel your TB and intake.

Reroute the coolant line from the back of your IAC to the line from the one from the front bypassing

After I did this my TB and Intake were cold as hell after a hard run. I don't have any idle, startup or stalling issues with the way mine is set up. And there is no way that you can tell me that this in hindering performance.

Just thought I would tell others how much that thing actually heats the intake charge.

if i wasnt still trying to get my stupid idle control to work, i'd disconnect it. lol

btw if you are trying to run idle control leave the coolant hooked up... without it the IAC valve will overheat and cook itself (or so i'm told)

Thats not true. The coolant line is there so that the sensor knows what temp the coolant is and to adjust idle accordingly. The sensor will be colder without it hooked up but it won't adjust idle right. Are you having trouble with your idle on the megasquirt because I wasn't going to use IAC. I won't be driving the car when its cold out either so I'm hoping to be able to do without.

no, there is no temp sensor inside the IAC, it is just a PWM air valve.

my idle control worked briefly and then stopped working so i unplugged the wiring for it. i either have a bad wire or a bad IAC, i havent cared enough to figure it out yet.

it works just fine without the IAC hooked up, it just idles kinda high. its a little hard to start when its cold but that could just be my far-from-perfect cold start settings too :p

ericGT im suprised he hasnt seen this yet. i guess from the begining his IAT sensor had a bad conector so its never worked from day 1. but one day all the sudden the sensor started to work and caused all hell and the car would not run right with the IAT hooked up so his is still off...why is the IAT messing with the tune so bad?

IAT != IAC... Intake air temp vs. Idle air control. The IAT sensor reading plays into the air density calculation which is why it affects your tune. The IAC just affects the amount of air flowing into the motor at idle.

The idle is the one thing that actually works as advertised on this bitch, so I think I'll leave it the hell alone.
