Hey guys, I've lurked this forum for a few years when I first bought my Escort and never needed to post until now. I have an electrical problem and I think I know the source. I just want a few opinions from the people here.

Yesterday while driving, my headlights, dash lights and rear lights went out. My brights, turn signals and brake lights still work. I checked the fuses, they're fine. After doing some searching here and asking good ol' dad, I think the issue is the headlight switch. I'm just asking if you guys agree or think it's something else. Please let me know, thanks.

Also if you do think it's the headlight switch, could you please link me to a site/post that explains how to replace it. And could I buy the part from an Autozone?

I've heard of people having problems with their headlights when the switch fails, but not the dash lights. it's definitely possible, it would just be new to me :)

the switch is pretty easy to replace, three screws remove the steering column trim, and two screws remove the switch. there are three electrical connections that need removed, then you have the switch out.

That sounds easy as pie thanks.

I figured the headlights, dash and rear lights are all controlled by same flick of the switch, so it sounds very plausible to me. But I'm still new to car repair so I don't know.

It turned out to be the switch. Everything is working fine now. Thanks again pextor for telling my how to change the part, it really was that easy.
