Yes, you read that right. I'm calling it quits, and leaving the Escort scene. It's the end of the line for me.

I will never be able to afford to maintain or upgrade this car in the future, so it has to go. I need the cash because we're constantly broke and the house is in need of some repairs.

As a lot of you know, the car was just painted this summer. I will admit the job was not perfect (the guy I paid to do it, procrastinated and then rushed to paint it) but it should last a while.

Here is the list of "upgrades" that I can think of.

    Body:
    - New paint (over $1300 invested)
    - ZXTuner OEM-style carbon fibre hood
    - 15" EGT fanblade wheels with Fuzion ZRi P205/50R15 tires
    - '93+ EGT Front and rear bumpers and side skirts (no cracks)
    - 3-piece EGT wing
    - Pony (small oval) grill
    - Doors were just replaced with decent junkyard doors
    - Remote hatch and fuel door release
    - Brand new headlights and corner lights

    Engine:
    - 1997 SPI swap. Engine was cleaned thoroughly and re-gasketed when installed.
    - 50% underdrive pulley
    - K&N air filter
    - PaceSetter header
    - Catalytic converter and muffler were replaced (OEM style replacements) ~5000 miles ago

    Suspension:
    - Lowered on Eibach Pro-Kit springs and Tokico S/R struts (less than 5000 miles on the setup)
    - EGT rear sway bar
    - Suspension Techniques add-on front sway bar w/ poly bushings
    - Misc. poly bushings here and there
    - Corksport front and rear strut tower bars
    - Corksport front tie bar
    - MX-3 rear tie bar

    Brakes:
    - Brembo rear brake drums
    - New front calipers and new rear wheel cylinders
    - New front and rear brake pads
    - Stainless brake lines

    Interior:
    - Mazda MX-3 front and rear seats
    - Protege center console and HVAC/radio surround conversion
    - MX-3 "double decker" armrest console
    - MX-3 seatbelts
    - 323 door sills
    - Misc. black interior trim
    - PaceSetter adjustable short shifter, cranked down to the shortest setting

    Extra parts (included, not installed):
    - EGT front spindles, need rebuilt
    - Brand new Brembo front brake rotors
    - Leftover Oxford White paint
    - Set of '91 style tail lights
    - Several side mirrors (Escort and Mazda)
    - Any and all misc. parts I can find
    - TWO extra LX-style front bumpers
    - ONE extra LX-style rear bumper

It passed PA State Inspection with no issues in September. We do not have emissions check in this county.

I'll be as straightforward as I can when disclosing the car's problems, as it's far from perfect.

    1. Needs SPI controller (mine got fried)
    2. There is still a timing or fuel delivery problem that I never worked out. Car will run but misfires/hesitates and lacks power.
    3. One of the SS rear brake lines still needs installed. I couldn't get the fitting to break free to facilitate installation. Maybe someone else will have better luck.
    4. The front brake rotors are older but serviceable.
    5. Fuel door needs painted and the middle piece of the rear spoiler needs paint fixed

This car handles like a beast and ran great before it sat. I was able to get 41 MPG before I parked it, and now it is still getting mid-30s even with the drivability problems. I'm really hoping to find someone to take over this project where I left off, because someone with a little time on their hands should be able to get it back in great condition easily.

I'd love to get $1500.00. I could probably make more than that parting the car out, but I don't have the time. I have more time and money invested in this car than I could begin to count, and I really hate to give it up but it's finally time.

Pickup only, cash only. Located in Corsica, PA 15825. PM or Reply with any questions. Or txt (please do not call) 814-954-1753.

Here's a pic. Link in sig will get you to the rest of them.

    The spare ones?

Yes. I purchased them intending to do the GT front spindle upgrade, but never got around to it.

I'd be willing to sell them separately. Make me an offer.

Shame to see you let the car go, but the next owner will not be disappointed.

Yes. But the paint isn't all that great. As far as I can remember, no structural or plastic damage though.

Sorry for the delays, I haven't been getting email replies from this forum lately. Hmm.

I know, I've gone back and forth on this subject since before I had it painted; just wasn't sure what I was going to do. But restoring/maintaining the house, new appliances, etc. are more important than a car could ever be (even as much as I love this one) so it's time to "grow up" I guess.

This car actually was originally from Cali, as it had all the CA emissions stuff on it when I bought it. This was all deleted (EGR blockoff and '93 ECU swap) so I'm not sure if you can legally have this car in CA or not - esp. with the SPI swap?

Seriously. That's what I sold the silver one for. Not only was there nothing "special" about the car at all, it was 6 months out of inspection since the frame rails were rotted to shit. The guy who bought it didn't even test drive it - I didn't ask but I assume it was destined for a demo derby, partout, or "flip" by getting it inspected at a lick-N-stick.

I know I'm not going to make back anywhere near the money I've invested in this car... but the suspension alone is worth $400.
