I´m so lucky to have an open parking lot with very few obstructions so close to my house. The scort does donuts very well. Although I think if my e-brake worked better I would have had even more fun.
What I said before in another post about the scort bein rotten in the snow isn´t so true afterall. I guess I just needed to drive it more to get a feel for the car. As I said before this is my first winter with my new car. I could use some good winter tires though. Hmm, maybe santa will be nice to me this year.

i also have a large unabstructed parking lot near my house. I had so much fun. I figured out how to do reverse donuts today (you need an e-brake for that)

Sorry to say, the only fun I had was watching the snow fly from inside, and then shoveling the driveway. No good lots nearby anyway. Glad you guys at least made the best of it!

I´ve got an unoccupied lot near my house that I go to every morning. Man it´s hella fun. People get mad at me for doing this kinda stuff, but I actually think it´s one of the best things you can do for your driving. It teaches you how to steer skids and really tells you a lot about how the car handles, and weight distribution in certain curves...
hell, I´m tempted to bring some cones tommorrow and having fun for a little while tommorrow morning

Concerning the e-brake on the scort... I bought mine used, and when I got it, the brake was already shot to hell from having it been driven while engaged. Does the ebrake only lock up the rear wheels, or only the front, or both the front and rear?
I just leave it in gear when I park.

well, i may not have been in the scort....but, the buick loves snow....not really...

lets just say, some of the roads in sewickley hieghts weren´t well plowed
threw the back end out on a fwd........

stop sign on little sewickley creek...my speedo read 50, and i wasn´t moving.....no brake involved.....

just tapping the gas my front wheels would lose traction...so i did that 1/2 down audobahn road.... minor fishtails, and just letting them spin....

ooooo and the driveby snowball fights

bwuhahaha, than i had to work
....o well fun and work even out

Glad to here I wasn´t the only one having some fun. Don´t worry you weren´t the only one sliding the rear end out on a FWD, but at least if you car is no longer traveling parallel to the yellow line, you are learning a valuable driving lesson. By the way, the ebrake only locks up the rear wheels. Oh yeah, just hope none of you have to buy rear calipers for your scort, there almost 50 bucks a peice.
I have new calipers, rotors, and brake pads, and my e-brake still doesn´t hold all that well. And yes the brake handle itself is adjusted as far as it will go. Any ideas on how to improvise a solution. On my old scort i stuck in a spacer between the nut on the adjuster and the metal thingy (yeah I know
) surrounding it. That allowed me to tighten up the cable even more. Do you think this would on the new scort? Its a 91 egt. I know the real problem is that I need new brake cables, but they are also like 50 bucks a peice. Who invented these damn things anyway? A new cable for a traditional drum type setup is like 15 bucks. I wish everything was as cheap as it used to be. Remember when gas was only 99 cents a gallon.
Those were the days.

Okay, now you guys got me wanting to go back to PA like, today!!! Too bad I´ve got to wait another two weeks or so, but when I get up there I´ll have two weeks to play in the snow!!! After that I´ve got to come back here to Alabama where 99% of the people here (not including military) have never seen more than three inches of snow, and that´s extremely rare in itself.

When it snowed here, I was leaving work at 3pm, It was really deep in the lot where i work, they didnt get it plowed GRR (Uhaul). I was leaving work, And i was stuck pretty bad in the parking lot it was really deep, The bottom of my front bumper was acting as a snow plow LOL, Any way after getting un-stuck, I noticed this weird clicking noise/motion, from the transmission, and I could see the gear shifter kinda pulseating. It would do that while i was driving even if the clutch was disengaged, It would only stop when i was at a complete stop, So I was still in the parking lot and all of a sudden the front end just LOCKS up! I was like WTF? i have the clutch pushed in (disengaged) and the front wheels are locked up, So I leave the clutch out to move alittle, and the car wont go, its as if the Ebrake was on, So i give it alittle gas and let the clutch out, i heard this LOUD metal cracking sound, and then it moves like 1 ft, and did the same thing again, then the 2nd time, I let the clutch out and nothing!!! I notice the speedometer moving, but not the car, I put it in 2nd gear, 3rd gear, I see it go up to 100mph but the wheels are not spinning Hrmm, and i also notice, after i got out of my egt, a nice line of tranny fluid leading to where it locked up, and the a HUGE puddle of fluid from where the car cracked real loud. So i have it towed, and the people at the trans place tell me the tranny is gone!, Its 550 for a used one from a junk yard in York,PA, 380 for labor and well might as well stick a new clutch in it awhile it would be dumb not to. so were looking at like 1200$ to fix my egt
1994 5spd with 84K on it. I think its all cuz of the snow really. well my X-mas is gonna suck!

Reading, well, Mount Penn actually. I´ll be home for Christmas, and maybe New Years. I haven´t been home in about a year and a half.

I just hope the weather doesn´t get bad on the way up there, my wife would probably freak as she´s never personally seen snow and deeper than the top of her big toe.

Damn Donnie sorry to hear about your luck
I took the scort out the next day. And I really couldn´t get around too well in the snow cause my freakin 4WD took a crap on my explorer. I was told it was probably a vacum hose, and i looked and looked but saw nothing. So after the 200 hundred dollars i just spent on the new hub to get it right it still don´t work. So god only knows what this is gonna cost.

Yup, Air Force to be exact. And yeah, I miss my family, but in just over a week my little ´scort will be taking me on a 1,000 mile road trip back home. I just hope I´m over whatever it is that´s making me feel like crap right now, and I hope my pregnant wife doesn´t catch it from me.

It snowed last night, about the same time i went out to go see "8 Mile" and it was pretty sticky too. After the movie me and my friend went around to a housing addition and we were doing 180s in the cultasacks (it was around 1:30 am, so no one was around). It´s a lot of fun if you have the time or money to use up for gas. It was fun. and a lot less dangerous than drag racing off stop lights.
