Well, the good news is I´m getting back a little over a 1000.00 for Fed. tax refund, the sad part is....I have to spend it on getting all four of my wisdom teeth cut!! :-[ Dentist must have named the wisdom teeth b/c they make so much damn money from them. :-? I´ll have enough from my state refund to go to NEM this summer... :-D so it won´t be too bad. :-] At least my mouth will feel better.

On the off topic...
what speaks would you recommend I get to replace my stock "rear strut housing" speakers? They´re 4x6". I´d like 2-ways with some nice bass and mids and something that doesn´t have a diaphragm that will crack or break at the higher voltages. I´m not looking for super high quality, just something dependable that will add a little meat and potatoes to my pitiful system.

Lookin to spend somewhere like 60-140 bucks on both speakers.

PS sorry to hear about the teeth... and trust me, after you´re done, your mouth will feel anything but better :-]

The GT has 5x7´s and the 93 LX which I´m sure is a sedan has 6.5´s in the rear. The question of what I like is only my opinion. I like using Boston Acoustics since I´ve been using them for so long. The 5x7 components in my rear deck sound awsome. The only thing is they cost me $220 at the time. They may have went down now. 5x7 speaker choices for 91 GT 6.5 and 6 3/4 speaker sizes for 93 LX sedan Any of these will do good with what your wanting to do. I really can´t tell you my favorite b/c I haven´t tried them all. To me, all of them are good speaker quality. Just go with $ your looking for. ;-)

well, I dunno,
these rockford fosgates look pretty good and are right up my alley in terms of price (I get TWO speakers for that price, right? not one?) but I also want value. I don´t want to just spend all my money on the famous fosgate name...

I think that I may be better off going with a less popular name so I get better value out of my money, which is why I also like the infinity speaker:

Which of these two do you think would be the better choice? After looking them both over it seems to me that the infinity has RF beat in terms of peak power handling, but the RF comes with a 1 year warranty.

Infinity´s are nice but I had a set of their components before I got my Boston´s and they didn´t perform well to me. Fosgate makes great speakers and their component and two-way speakers are getting better than ever before. Since your using just a head unit, I would got with the Infinitys for the value. Either way, you won´t lose. The Infinitys come with a 1 year warranty as well.

Rascal, man, now I´m really confused. Just what size are the stock rear speakers in the 2nd gen scort hatchbacks? 91scortgtboy said they´re 5´s, not 5x7´s. Which is it, cause I don´t want to buy the wrong thing!

And yeah, having your wisdom teeth pulled can be an experience. I recovered from mine pretty quickly, but when my friend Anna had hers pulled, her mouth was swollen and sore for weeks. Lol, she looked like a chipmunk! But hey, that gave me an excuse to visit her and give her stuff.

I think I´ll go for the infinity´s. Is crutchfield a good place to buy speakers?

Also, how do you go about measuring the speakers? I have both of my stock speakers pulled and sitting in front of me right now, but I´m not sure if I should measure from edge to edge or what...

i have ´93 LX h/b, stock speakers were 5x7. i´ve heard that with a bit of modding you can get 7x9´s, but 5x7 are stock fit for the h/b´s. i have an older version pair of rockford 2 ways, evens out the sound nicely

My wisdom teeth came in pretty good, do i got lucky. They keep telling em I should get them out. but they just want my money. Freaking insurance don´t cover that.
Gee siragan I don´t know how you could say that infinity is a less known name. There refrence series stuff is awsome. Never had the compnents though so I can´t say about that. And no boston accoustic has not gone down at all. My cousin had acompetition setup with the components and subs. really excellent sound. Now I have been told fosgate ain´t what it used to be, but I haven´t herd there stuff in a while. I like the pioneer they got in there and i think they are only about $100, i have all pioneers in both my cars, as far as door and decks.

Are you sure there 5x7´s. I swear i have a few crutchfield catalogs lying around that say they are just straight 5´s. Now I am confused. I got 6x9´s in there now.
