Can someone point me towards a list of the differences amongst all the 91 trim lines, particularly the GT, LX, and LXE. I am pretty sure I have an LXE, but not sure what that means in comparison to my LX.

The Lx-E is only in sedan form. It has the GT engine. If it's the red car in your sig, that's an LX. Is the badge on the back gone?

The LX-E is also a Mercury Tracer.

This will help you a bit:

That's a funny way to say it :?
The Tracer is the same as the Escort in that gen, but only came in sedan.
The Tracer LTS had the GT engine, as did the Escort LX-E. But if you say thr LX-E is also a Tracer, it makes it sound like sedans and Tracers came only with GT engines.

GIve us a better pic. Is it a 4 or 5 door? Anyway you said it is a 1.9 so it is an LX. Is the badge missing?

2nd Generation 1991-1996 body year.

Escort 1.8L (91-96, LX-E d/c in 1994)
EGT = two door hatchback
LX-E = four door sedan

Escort 1.9L (91-96)
LX = two door hatchback, four door sedan
Pony = two door hatchback, four door sedan

Tracer 1.8L (91-94?)
LTS = four door sedan

Tracer 1.9L (91-96)
just the basic four door sedan, not sure if it had a two door hatchback or not, at least I've never seen one.

All 1.8L model cars came with modified macpherson style struts, bigger brakes, etc. the LTS and LXE both had 14" rims still for some reason...

The Tracer had a 1.9l. I have one. The Tracer LTS had a 1.8l.

As far as I know, an Escort Pony came in a three door hatchback with nothing. No AC, AM/FM stereo, No rear window defrost. You could buy them new for less then 9 grand or so.

ok. got it figured. it is an LX. Someone replaced the visors from it with the visors from one with airbags. they also replaced the headliner at some point (it doesn't match anything in the car).

James92Scort what about the 4door hatch?
So if not all 2nd gens had a rear defrost, what then took the place of the rear defrost switch on the dash to the right of the wheel?

four door hatch? I don't think there was that trim level on an Escort... unless you're talking about a 1G? ... then I have no idea.
Sorry for the 10 day delay, but I was on vacation 8th -18th
Question 1:There was inded a 5 door 2nd gen.
Question 2:There was a blank filler piece on the hole for the defrost switch.
