I got to drive my GT for the first time ever today, and compared to my LX the thing rips ass. Awesome power up around 5700 rpm with my new RX-7 MAF and K&N FIPK, the thing really screams. I was able to chirp the wheels on dry roads in 2nd and 3rd gear, thanks to my crazy quick shifting abilities :)

Mods:
intake
exhaust
MSD
turbo (lots of work)
advanced timing
better plugs

and horsepower and torque are two very different things. I´ve noticed that my GT has great horsepower, but the torque is kinda lacking in the low end... can´t do much about that, it´s a 4cyl.

Thats because the GT was built for the high rpms, siragan. My dad is still convinced that my belt broke because I was winding it out to redline...(not the case, I was shifting when it broke.)
127 hp @ 6500 rpm
114 lb ft @ 4500 rpm

When I drive I try to keep it as close to 3000 rpms as possible. that way if I need the power, all I gotta do is floor it, or drop a gear and it´ll start to climb. I find that I tend to like to go for the revs. I´m a rev chaser, or I´m rev happy. I couldn´t go back to a car that redlines at 5000 rpms. Yeah, you can say that I LOVE my VICS :) (Variable Inertia Charge System) for those who don´t know what it is...it´s basically just four butterfly valves in the intake runners that open at 5500 rpms to let the engine breathe until it´s 7000 rpm redline. :-D
I like to see the needle buried at 6500 rpms doing 110 mph in 4th gear...I just did it today for the hell of it. :-o I can´t wait to turbo the car. that´ll be even more fun. ;-)

yeah the VICS is why I bought this car... putting on the RX-7 VAF and the K&N fipk kit dropped my VICS initiation from about 5300rpms to about 3900rpms or so. Once I hit 6300rpms or so that thing is cookin ass... just totally eats the air.

Helps that I´m running really rich because my O2 sensor is dead.

Its a -87 Escort 1.6l Nordic.
I would like to increase it from 10-15 HP.
I am saving some money to buy a cosworth motor, after this summer I´m sure I will have enough.

Yes I´m fairly sure I´m not talking about VRIS, GTs use VICS. I´m 99.9999999999999999% sure. :-]
