hey whats up Im Isaiah this is like my first post, so anyway I have 92 Ford Escort LX 1.9, ok where do I start. Well ever so often I keep getting this problem of stopping at a red light, taking my foot off the brake and having to slam down on the accelerator to get it to move. I noticed whnever I push it all the way down the rpms goto about 2000 and then they hold till I reach over 30. The only thing I can really think of thats wrong with it is the timing, transmission fluid change or maybe the brakes are sticking. Im hoping its not the transmission cause I am really bad at changing something like that, and I tried it in low to see if would move and it accelerates alot better but i cant run it in that all the time. Ive looked in the manual and it really gives me no clue. Its really annoying speacilly when your trying to make a left on a green yield Im actually afraid that it will get me in a wreck sooner or later.

If anyone could help me out here I would appreciate it..

Thnx Isaiah

Sounds like it's not dropping into 1st gear when you come to a stop. Definitely check that tranny fluid.

General question for auto owners:
Does the scort have PRD2L or just PRDL? (I've never driven an automatic scort)

If it has a 2nd gear selection.. will it still drop into 1st when 2 is selected? Or will it try to start out in 2nd?

It'll try to start out in 2nd. At least all the auto cars I've ever been in/driven will.

When it's in 2nd, it's like being in 2nd in a manual...I don't see how it could switch itself.
