Should I buy these wheels?

Yesterday, at a yard sale I found some 17" 5 spokes with 205-40-17 tires with at least 65% tread. They are gloss white (would probably paint) and have some gay round center caps that cover the lugs so there is a threaded part that sticks out level with the front, (I could cut it off). Two of the covers are missing but I don't care because they look better without them. They kind of look like these without the holes at the end of the spokes, the spokes closer to the lip, and the lip not polished. I could kick my self for not taking pictures of them today. They want $200 but the lady said her son might take less.

I would probably paint them black, gray or gunmetal.

The big question is how big a risk is there to bending a rim or having a blowout with a 40-series tire? There are currently alot of pot-holes around town and I would hate to get something I would wreck. On the plus side, the current tires on them have the same dynamiter as my 185-65-14's. Another reason I ask it because I could be putting said money towards my exhaust/HO header project instead. What do you say guys? Should I take the plunge or hold off for something different (more spokes)? I still would want to try them on the car before I buy but I was on my bicycle at the time.

I run 205/40ZR17 Yokohama Parada Spec 2 in Enkei RS5 rims and the roads here around Rockford are awful. I have driven hard on these crappy roads with the suspension tight and lowered almost 2" with no problems. My question is, is your car lowered? Because I think 40 series tires and rim setup look wrong on stock height suspension. Too much wheel well gap for my taste. If your car has the right stance, those rims should look good. Check out the stance on my GT.

No, its not lowered. That brings about the pivotal question of what to do first. Lower it on the factory 14's which will look stupid or get bigger wheels and look like a 4x4 with huge fender well gap? I guess tomorrow I may stop by and see if they will let me try them on. If they fit and look good they are mine. If not there will always be others. I still can't believe I didn't take an actual picture of them. I still can't seem to find them on the net or anything vary close.
I decided not to get them. I would rather have something with more spokes. Besides, now I can puck up the parts for my header project..
