Do you think it would be feasible to possibly shove a 3.4L V8 Taurus SHO engine into my EGT and keep it front wheel drive? I´d go from 127 hp to 238 hp and from 114 lb ft to 230 lb ft, which is quite a considerable gain. I figure that the 3.4L is small enough that it just might fit into the engine bay.
I used to work with a guy that put a V8 in his Cavalier. I don´t know how but he did.
If i got enough money to get a good SHO engine, do you think it would be worth my time?

well, i knew that...but the thing is i´ve ALWAYS wanted a Taurus SHO, but i can´t afford the insurance for a V8. if i drop the engine in my escort they´ll think i have the I4 still and my insurance will stay the same. Plus i won´t gain all the weight that comes along with the rest of the Taurus.
If i do this it´ll really be a side project, my real love is IN this car 100%. I do eventually want to go turbo. Just something for me to think about.

Remove the firewall and you can probably fit a v8 in there, and then you can see it from inside too lol. I agree with matt though, you are better of going turbo as it will be easier and net the same power if you do it right.

With the little 1.8L you could actually stroke the motor quite a bit, then bore out a little bit if you´re all about displacement, but then add forced induction with a larger T03 sized turbo, try to get 20lbs or more on the motor and you´d have enough power under your pedal to laugh at the SHO motor. Best of all...you could be the SHO SLEEPER! or Stopper, what ever you´d prefer.

Yeah, speaking specifically about the 6cyl. The 89-95´s are BADASS. The V6 with the Yamaha head is incredible. It was the first car that I could spin the tires until 3rd gear on the freeway on ramp. And to add to it....a Taurus, with a 5speed standard, and all leather interior is pretty pimp come back for a car that otherwise is the curse of mechanics everywhere.

It´s just something to do with the V8 motor specifically. Just think of your dream cars and and you´ll know where i´m coming from on this. I forgot about the early 90s V6 SHOs.
One of these days i´ll have the money to screw around with projects like that, but for now i can just dream. I´m happy with my car, as soon as i get the struts done with the lowering springs, i´m gettin a new bumper so i don´t have to worry about my new fog lamps falling off

i THINK, but im not shure, the v6 SHO´s use the same trannys as the scorts. dont take my word for it, they just looked the same. I was changing the oil on an SHO, thats how i noticed. if indeed they were the same trannys, the v6 might just squeeze in there. that would be a badass Escort
