why is it that we pay so much for shipping to zxtuner and they send you your stuff, with like $3.00 postage. i payed $13.00 for shipping some mount inserts and it only cost them $3.00 to send.

That's why it say shipping and handling.
they are making you pay for the materials and the labour for the packing and handing it to the truck driver, and the office proccessing the order. The profit on the part should cover it, but they want the price to look small so they shift the cost of doing business over to "shipping and handling".
So yes they are pocketing extra money on top of their profit like thieves but you can't do squat about it.

Ever look at the "postage" costs on eBay?

Personally, I only ever charge actual postage costs.
I will usually charge 1 dollar more than what I calculate as actual postage. I do this to cover any "miscalculations" and for packing expenses. I try to recycle boxes, whenever possible. Only brown boxes though. I haven't done eBay for selling in abou 6 months though

Some times the Handling part... of H&S... is not performed by the Seller. At least, UPS maintains a System... where Sellers Inventory is in a UPS warehouse, and shipped from there... for which UPS charges a Fee to the Seller.
There are a couple Get In The Ebay Business ads on TV... where they advertise: just sit a home and collect money, while the supply and shipping is handled by a Host Company.

Yup

Actual Shipping costs + USPS or CanPost = Good service for cheap :D

The Federal systems are underated and the private systems are overated.

Anybody use Summit Racing? I had just ordered a set of Accel wires for the Escort before I got rid of it. They were something like $43 with FREE shipping. However, there was an $8.00 handling charge....

Summit is quick to tout their free shipping. Just beware the handling charge.

Now to compare, I ordered an in dash cd player for the new van from Crutchfield - I have nothing but GOOD things to say about Crutchfield. My first experience with them was easy, instructions were very clear. Being that I'd never installed a car stereo before, the total time for installation ran me just over an hour. Partly because I was so meticulous about what I was doing, not wanting to mess up the wife's vehicle. Concerning the shipping/handling charge, it was only $5 and the package arrived on the SECOND day. That's fast and cheap.
