My bf, who doesn't currently have his license, stalled at an intersection while getting me change to do laundry. and some lady(in a 3rd gen. scort-go figure) hit my 2nd generation scort, enuff to break my key when he pulled it out to restart the car, and the belt locked up... not alot of damage- just the imprint of her license plate on my back bumper, hopefully that can be buffed out, but my bac bumper has been hit 3 times by ppl in parknig lots anyways :? i also had a question about the airbags.. is there anyway u can tell if an airbag is still there, cuz the one on my passenger side when u push it goes in... well g2g.. byez!

Yeah, second gen rear bumbers are great. Mines been rear ended twice. Less than ten minutes with some polishing compound and voila, new bumper :D

That sucks.

The key thing seems weird. If the car was hit hard enough to make the key bend in the ignition, then your boyfriend should go get his spine looked at.
Why would he take the key out to restart the car?

I don't know what the deal is with people driving into the backs of cars. I have been rear-ended while sitting stopped at red lights like 4 times now. One of them was the day i got my escort, while i was driving home from the lot! Stupid hooker in a 02 automatic v6 mustang convertable.

 So I'm not the only one that's been rear ended a lot then. I've been back ended about 10 times in the 11 years that I've been driving. And in that time I've never rear ended anyone. People just don't know how to keep their distance. Its my biggest pet pieve. If I was driving a shitty car it wouldn't bother me but I drive a show car and I'm always on edge about the drivers around me. But I find this thread funny. I woudn't of course if someone got hurt. And I have been hurt through rear endings. THe last time a stupid kid hit the lady behind me and she let her foot off the brake and came smashing into me, which did a lot of damage to my custom body work; and gave me back pain for two days!!

I didn't care about my back pain but I did care about my show car.

Again PEOPLE ARE IGNORANT OUT THERE! PERIOD. Not just when it comes to driving but when it comes to many things. This thread is just symbolic of that.

my key slides out easily in the ignition, and as he went to restart it... the ford key fell out of the plastic thing, so rather it broek the cheezy plastic piece, so my key is just a little uhhm nub i suppose..LoL... it still works... just hurts my fingers..LoL...

I went thru 2 of those cheap ford keys in one month!! I finally got tired of hurting my fingers so went to Walmart and they had a Ford style key that was plastic, but the metal actually goes all the way thru the key so it won't break as easy.

Glad to hear the scorts are in ok shape for the traumatic experience they went thru. :p

Cheap Ford Keys? probably. lol I have the original key I got with the car...whether it's actually the original from the factory, I doubt it.

I lost my original key once...about 2 weeks later I parked my car infront of my house and as i was walking thru my yard I looked down and just happened to see it layin the grass. haha that was sweeet 8)

don't even get me started. some bi.... passed me in the turning lane in a school zone last night!

I personally would vote for a law to mount 50 caliber machine guns to emergency vehicles. I see to many people not getting over because they are way to important to get out of the way. I bet if you let go a burst of 50 cal fire on the road in front of them they will never do it again. I know after I cleaned myself I wouldn't either.

no its not practical but its funny!

my story about the rear bumper is that when i was 15 and had my temps was rear-ended while getting off the highway. i also backed into a parked car when i was 16, and have had my car tapped profusely while being parked in the school lot. teenagers are some of the worst drivers out there! i should know, i am one.

oh yeah, cali, i've pushed on my passenger airbag out of straight boredom. it's there i guarantee, it will give a little bit. but if you're still unsure, just find the airbag sensors behind the front bumper and tap it with a hammer...

Been driving 8 years.. never been rear-ended. I've had an idiot slide his truck into me... why he thought he could turn that fast and hard on ice is beyond me... but that was the only time someone has hit my car while I've been driving.

Maybe you guys don't attract enough attention to yourselves when coming to a stop. If you weave wildly across 3 lanes, cut someone off, lean on your horn and lock up all 4 wheels before coming to a stop at an intersection.. people will notice and are much less likely to hit you. :D Driving backwards is good too.. then you can just flash your brights at the people who might otherwise hit you. Practical.. and not very funny... or something like that. :?

the worst part about it is there are two vehicles I've driven that for some reason I get cut off all the time. The first was the old 64 new yorker that weight 4700lbs (no kidding!) and the latest is the new escape... its friggin yellow!? how do you miss a yellow vehicle?
