"Semi independant torsion beam rear suspention..."
Damn, that's the only thing that might be bad. I'm glad Saturn decided to make a fun, fast car. I hope they sell a lot of them. Any clue what the sticker price will be?

Nice front bumper cover, but the squared-hood doesn't match the curvature of the headlamps. C-pillar is anything but streamlined, makes it look utilitarian. Needs a stronger profile - side rub strips or skirts, anything to do away with the slab sides. And the spoiler should have been made an integral part of the rear, not a tacked-on afterthought.

Interesting engine. Shame though that it's hidden by that dreadful bodywork.

For a lesson in styling beauty, Saturn stylists need only look at the Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe.

Yeah that thing certainly isn't very pretty...

and they didn't mention any upgrades to the fuel management or delivery system. Hm.
Also, I wonder how the whole electronic throttle control thing is going to go over. I think that is a very smart idea.

If only they made something like the 3rd gen rx7, only smaller overall and with a smaller wheelbase. Hm. Well I guess that's where the RX-8 comes in :)

I think that I'm going to go against convention here and say that car looks freakin' badass.

I read a while back that Saturn was gonna bring out a new car & throw the Eaton roots supercharger on the 2.0 Ecotec to boost it up to 190 hp. but 200 hp/200 lb ft torque (estimated) is unprecidented in a Chevy/Pontiac/Saturn car.

Cars like these are the main reason I want to turbo my car. So I can keep the edge on these new sport compact pocket rockets and back off any smack-talkers. :p

id have to say i don't like the looks but saturn's marketing department looks at the rice look as wut's in. Once they have the car set in there line up they can take a gamble with the looks more. I fear that alot of cars will come with a touch of ricing out because that's wuts seen as the "in thing". Oh well it's only a phase it will pass...... right? Don't liek new go with the old.

RX7s are sweet cars. that body lip under the front bumper is supposed to be black. it gives the car attitude. Anyway, a TT RX7 can hand a Camaro SS it's ass in a race if you switch to a single turbo setup and mess with the exhaust.

I'm sure there's a handful of RX7s and even Toyota Supras out there that have surprised top dollar sports cars like the SS and even Corvettes.

That's the same reason I'm going to build up my EGT. Total sleeper. no one would expect to see an Escort pull away from a 13 second Camaro SS

i read an article once in a super chevy...i think...anyways they have the vintage SS, 72 SS with the 454 or even the 69 camaro ss...that were really suprised to be taken off the line by a few supras, and what ever other rear wheel drive imports there were. but in the end the american muscle took over, at the track they were losin, due to their nos systems

I saw a guy on the outskirts of town with like 3 camaros... a newer (95?) camaro and a couple old 70's era camaro SS's. I'm not into those cars, but I thought you guys may want to see it. If so, tommorrow I'll bring a camera and stop by an introduce myself and take some pics.

Yeah siragan I'd love to see some pics of them...

I was driving home tonight and this late 60s Chevelle SS pulled up next to me. I gunned it but he didn't want to race. He kept taking off slow from the light then he'd gun it and pass me. That car was absolutely beautiful. it was orange with black racing stripes. I'm sure it had a 396 in it...just by the sound.

I'm extremely unimpressed with the "high-tech, high-output, new breed of turbo DOHC pocket rockets".

Just as an example, i'll use the baddest of the bad, the dodge neon..

In 1987, 16 years ago, Ford made a SOHC turbo, with smaller displacement than the neon.
195 HP, 245 lb/ft of torque.

With the addition of 1 cam, 8 valves, .1 liters, and 16 years of technology, the new Neon makes..
215 HP, 245 lb/ft of torque.

Am i the only person that thinks a 200hp 4 cylinder is not what is expected of modern technology?

At least the new STI and the EVO are headed in the right direction..

Just had to rant.. sorry fella's.. carry on

The Neon may say it only makes 20 more hp than the old Ford engine...
Well, sorry to burst your bubble but the power output that Dodge claims is way way off. In more and more tests the Neon is putting down *at the wheels* 223 hp and 250 lb ft torque.
215 crankshaft hp will not get a FWD car 5.6 seconds in a 0-60 test.

If I remember right, the SRT-4 can pull equal numbers in the slalom and skippad tests...
