Today I was coming back from Subway and I was going down US30 to my apartment and I looked over at oncoming traffic and saw a Black 2G Tracer four door...might have been an LTS, i dunno...but I saw this little red spot on his grille...as he got closer I noticed that it was the freaking CORVETTE SYMBOL... what the HECK??? bah.

So then a few hours later I was coming back from somewhere...again...dunno where, and I was going down Dawkins Road, about to turn on Green st to go back to my apartment (again) and Here comes this red, 2G EGT...

...with freaking 13" rims and wheel extenders on...I about puked...

I seriously thought about whipping around and chasing after this dumb ass and beating him down.

It truly was a sad sad day for the Escort community today...

heh, you oughtta take a walk down the streets of my neighborhood. you've got it good compared to me. at least the people in your town try to do things with their scorts. in mine, they drive on and let them rot away to nothing. there are sooooo many EGTs i've passed which are younger than my car, and yet, they are dented all to hell, rusted beyond recognition, and farting out blue smoke.

that reminds me of a time i had to help this really hot chick carry out some furniture to her car. it was a '94 caymen green GT. needless to say i was even more turned on by her owning a scort. it was even a stick! but, it was banged-up and rusting, and had a wierd smell to it. in addition, we had issues putting the furniture in the trunk, because her e-brake was nonfunctional and the car was rolling forwards. (she left the engine on so leaving it in 1st was out of the question).

that, my friend, was a sad day in escort history.

Hrm. Let me take a second to think about that.

Maybe it's because the escort is a BUDGET CAR. If you haven't realized that yet, then -no offesne bud- but you really need a reality check. People don't take care of escorts because they aren't cars that society says are worth taking care of.

The only reason why feoa was created was so pathetic people like you and I with our crappy blue collar jobs can come and console each other about what horrible cars we drive.

Wow. I'm an a**hole.

that may be.

but my argument is directed towards pride of ownership - or lack there of.

even if i owned a chevette or pinto or something not worth being called a car, i would still keep up with the maintenance and wash it and make sure it was not causing global warming. we feel that every other escort driver out there represents the entire escort community. and since we all (or most of us) drive the same car, we keep an eye out for others like ours on the road. so, it's hard not to be drawn into feeling angry or upset or disturbed by someone else's neglect for their car, especially their escort. regardless of where the escort stands in the social ladder.

that I can agree with. I'd have to say that I take good care of all my stuff, regardless of how good it is. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I even wax ...the festiva!

I think that every car deserves to be taken care of, regardless of how bad it is.

And what is james talking about with wheel extenders? Does he mean wheel spacers?

aren't they the same thing?? what i have pictured in my head is what that guy did to his 5.0 convertable in Menace II Society. those wide-assed wheels. man, those things are so haggard.

there's a guy down the street from me who has those on his '93 Taurus - gold. it's an eyesore; paint peeling, rust formation. it's like one of those cars in the beginning of pimp my ride.

So if I have a "good" car, I take care of it and maintain it, and if I have an Escort or other "dispensable" car I don't :?

How about the majority of people are too stupid to realize that a car, regardless of who makes it and what kind, is their second largest purchase they will most likely ever make. By maintaining their car they not only increase the value (or in this case decrease depreciation), but extend the usuable life of the vehicle thus increasing the return on their investment by extending the service life and having to buy fewer cars over a lifetime. I don't care what anyone says, there is no such thing as a "disposable" car. If I had a Porsche it would get the same treatment my Escort does. I agree with Deathslinger00, pride of ownership. The qualitie of a mans work says a lot about his values. I don't care whether society says it's worth me taking care of my car or not. I will take car of it regardless, it's mine to do with how I please. Just because society thinks one thing, doesn't mean it's right. Society as a whole (myself included) is stupid as all hell.

When you roll down the road and you see wheels sticking out beyond the fenders of the car, typically a car with wheel extenders has someone from south of the border is driving it... It's common around here, but that was the first I've seen it on an Escort...completely ruins ANY car IMO.

Well put, I feel the same way.

The sad reality, though, is that people simply don't have the time or the motivation to do this. It's sad, but it's the way the world works.

And james! wheel spacers are the shizzle! The rims on my scort will be flush with the side of the car. I think that this GREATLY improves the look of your car. Lowering the car, in conjunction with bringing the wheel base flush with the fenders, gives your car a very agressive, stable looking stance.

You'll notice that all the M3 BMW's have this trait.

And I'm curious as to how it will look on my GT. I'm not at home right now, but I will be on friday, and I can probably finish the whole suspension setup within a couple of weeks. I'll see if I can get a camera and take lots of pics of my crappyass car so you guys can drool over it. :)

In total agreement....
