I've been having a bit of a problem for the past year or so. My '92 1.9-L runs rough when I first start the engine, especially when cold and even some times when recently used/warm. The rough idle clears itself in about 20-30 seconds and runs just fine.

I've done the usual tune-up things in the recent past and cleaned the MAP sensor too (clean). Does anyone have suggestions as to the cause and what to check out? Thanx in advance !

Think I Got It

I haven't changed the fuel filter in 125,000 + miles and thought this may be the culprit. I swapped it out and the rough idle on start-up seems to have been eliminated. Will post update after some history.

Posted too Soon

It seems the rough idle has returned (or never really left???). Rough idle goes away after ~20sec's ...I easily hear the transition.

Anyone with thoughts on what else to check?

check the resistance of the IACV
