My 98 escort 2.0 has an inconsistent engine idle. My code reader says P1506, IDLE AIR CONTROL OVERSPEED ERROR. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for. There does not appear to be any noticable vacuum leak. please help
My engine is a dohc 2.0L 16 valve ZETEC. My repair manual does not show the location of the IAC for this type of engine, on the 2.0l spi it is quite obvious. The throttle body is on top of the engine, i do not see the valve anywhere on the throttle body. Does the 20.l ZETEC have an idle valve. Please help....
your iac is located on your throtle body it has 2 bolts holdind it on and a little black plug.very simple to replace i wouldnt recommend cleaning i would replace it since its already gonna be off. its 59.99 at autozone
Okay all you grease monkeys,
I have a P1506 code which is the AIC valve error, I replaced it with a new one and I was told to drive on interstate at about 60 so it can reset itself. I have done that, with still no avail. When I installed the new one, i disconnected the neg battery terminal and followed directions. After I replaced it, another code came up which was a low input on my MAF sensor. It was running rough. I replaced that and it seemed to fix everything, except for the P1506 code. It idles pretty decent, but I have noticed when I change direction of the air flow ( vents, floor, defrost etc,) it idles differently, but seems to recover quickly. Any help would be appreciated. I'm getting ready to bore out my cup holders, cause I'm tired of spilling coffee in the mornings, terrible design! Thanks again. Dskarl29
