I threw this topic around about a month ago, but we all love rims...and I'm still looking for some. Does anyone know of ANY place that features tire and wheel packages? I want it nice and easy... So, please post some decent web sites or stores, w/e that I can obtain tire and wheel packages. Any one have suggestions on what rims to purchase? Personal likings or anything?

Do you want looks or performance?

If you order wheels and have them shipped to your residence, you can have the tires shipped from tire-rack to a local tire store.. then all you have to do is drop off your wheels and wait for 10-15 minutes.. pay $30-$45 for mounting and balancing then take them home and put them on.. or have the shop put them on for you.

I reccomend Rota wheels if you're interested in performance at a good price. They aren't very bling though

tirerack.com has the ASA LW5 rims on closeout. I bought them and love em. 15x7 rims are only $80/each plus tires are about $60 and tire rack will mount and balance them for you. later
That's a good find.. and 15lbs isn't too shabby. I wish I had more $$ currently, I'd probably buy some of those with some sporty tread and then get Hoosiers for my Rota's for autocross racing... okay.. well I wish I had a crapload more $$$.

Those are my next set of rims for the turbo escort, so nobody is aloud to get them..... Then my 12lb rims can go on the beater.
Yes, always put bling rims on your "good" car and your performance rims on your beater.

Everybody knows that performance is less important than looks!

So going from a 12lb rim on the turbo escort to a 10lb rim is bling and not performance?

Yeah - I was wondering if anyone else thought that was backwards??

Okay, you got me there. I thought the "bling" rim was heavier.

Either way, it's a waste of money in my opinion to buy rims for an Escort if you already have the 15" GT rims. At the most, I'd go 16", but if I wanted performance I'd just get light 15"ers.

which is exactly what he is doing... it's a lighter rim that is 15x7... it's just wider than the stock GT tires, but it's still less unsprung mass which leads to better acceleration and handling... All around a nice upgrade, only wish I had the cash for some nice rims and tyres.

Agreed - large rims are no good for the strip, but you can never make a 15 look as nice as a 17 or 18 in my eyes.

On the large = bad performance note, Denis had a video of his GT burning rubber on his 18's for over half a run down the strip on ERDT - I think he had a pretty stiff stall converter if I remember right.

On the other hand I sure like the way my car handles with my 17's a hell of a lot better than it does with the stock 14's.

15 in GT rims are only 5.5inch's wide, with a 6.5 or 7 inch wide rim I have options for tires. I have 205/50/15 on the 7spoke GT rims on the beater and they are streched on pretty good.

Yes bigger rims suck for performance. My 18's looked nice but that was it. Tires were to much and they could get traction for shit. I sold those and run 15's with drag radial on the front. I also like my car with 15's.
