I sat for a week trying to get the axles out of the transmissions to do the 5speed swap. It was miserable.
Now, you're refering to removing the nuts on the outside of the rotors, securing the cv axles to the wheels, right?
Did you tap out the little divot that holds them secure with a screwdriver?
I used a 1/2 Craftsman ratchet, an unbreakable socket, and a 6ft long cheeter'pipe'. I originally didn't think of the cheaterbar for the tranny on my parts-car, though, and I just used the cutting torch to cut the axles in half (I wasn't reusing them anyways) :) hope they come off soon
