I am working on my brothers 94 escort lx.He needs a new clutch but anyway my problem is the nuts holding the half shafts or cv axles into the rotor.I have used 1 can of wd-40 and 1/2 can of pb blaster and a propane torch. I have broken my 3/8 drive ratchet and 2 1/2" breaker bars. I have read the two other articles posted on this subject. Any ideas?

well i took the spindles off leaving the axle in them. tried to yank out the passenger side shaft by pulling on the spindle,not a good idea. the boot came off and the end is still in the tranny. i now have the transmission all disconnected and supported by a jack.just waitin till some one else comes home to give me a hand.

I can see the clutch!!!. now if i could just get the tranny all the way out. If i put some new grease in that cv joint and pop the end back on you think it will be ok?

I never did get that axle nut off , and yes i did pry out the tab. I jst took the whole spindle off.Yes i can slide the boot back on. I wish my bro was into performance cause now would be a great time to put some cool parts on. Im a Chevy guy myself but the rest of the family is all Ford. Ive done the half shafts on a mazda before and 1 on my Z71 and newer had so much trouble from a axle nut.

Ok the new clutch is in. Not to bad spent about $150.00 with parts and brake cleaner ect. Anyone know how much a shop would have charged so i can tell my little bro thats what he owes me?

Well the new clutch is in and the tranny is bolted back on the engine.Tomorow ill put the rest of his car back together.Thanks for the help. Guess you blue oval guys aint so bad. And hey at least they are mostly american made.
