Alright. Just the other day i got a reverse sensor from another escort transmission. hooked it up to the cable, shift light worked, everything. plugged it into the transmission, and now the reverse lights are on all the time. Got notified of the washer between the trans and sensor, just fixed that. I can't afford to get pulled over for this, someone please help

After putting the washer back in, the reverse lights are still on? Possible you broke the switch (I've done it myself once) or the switch you put in was bad to begin with. As a test, if you loosen the switch, do the reverse lights go out?

It's your key! If you have an original, unused master key, use it to have a new one cut.

This will fix your reverse lights issue!

how would it be the key? the key cylinder has a tang that goes into a slot on the ignition switch. if the key is worn, u could pull it out with the engine still running. if they key won't move, the ignition switch is frozen.

Ok. Ignition switch is brand new, and the cylinder. I want to know why the reverse lights stay on, and it's NOT my key. i think i got the button on the sensor stuck lol. or broke it. will pick another up and see what happens..

Seriously, I have a '94 LX Sedan Manual 5-speed and my Neutral Position switch has had a wire disconnected for many years. The reverse lights still work properly. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbullet ... =selectron

I never got whether yours was an auto or manual, but make sure that sensor isn't wired wrong. It may ground out on the transmission. BTW, did the washer make it easier to shift out/into reverse ?

You need to a wiring diagram to determine by what, these lights are activated. For instance, Does the switch activate a relay or does it run through the PCM and then to the relay ? Also, you sig says "beat to hell"... wreck damage may damage wiring running near the outer panels of the vehicle.

it's got a dent in the rear, and the hood is all caved in from hail damage, it IS a standard. and the washer fixed the shifting problem. but the lights are still on.
