Hello,

My ´96 escort has some black trim that is starting to fade. I do not know what the trim piece is called but if you roll down your window and lay your arm out of the window, you are touching the trim.
I called the Ford garage and they told me that new pieces are available. However, they didn´t say how to remove the old and install the new.

So if anyone could tell me how these peices attach, it would be greatly appreciated.

You can actually force it off....all that holds it down are little white plastic clips....(4 doors are easier to take off than 2 doors for some reason)

On older LXes rubber can be taken off and under it is a good aluminium which can be polished. But it will only look good on silver car.

i took mine of off my 94 gt, and painted them white to match the car, they have plastic clips that go into slots in the door, and on the end has a nub that an end clip fits into, but i wore my clip out cause i took it off too many times,. i just gently pryed the trim off. the clips are in good so you will hear a popping noise, don´t worry thats just the clips popping out. once you get them started they come out better. if your replacing them than i guess you don´t have to be as carefull. i think its easier if you take the mirror off cause they get stuck under it. i didn´t do that and yanked them out, thats how i think i scewed up the end clip. hope that helped, i think there the same as the gt´s. if you need the clips just take it easy
