So I can buy a 2002 escort for $200. but I need to replace the rear axle, how hard is this? I am quite familiar with junkyards, but I am not an expert at all.
Can I fix this with time and patience, or is there anything I could royally screw up?


is it, take out the old axle, get a used one and bolt it back in, spend some time getting the brakes on and wheels aligned?

these cars don't have a rear axle, they have an independent rear suspension. if you need to replace the whole shooting match, it's doable, but you will probably need a torch to get some of the rusted bolts off.

what exactly is wrong with the car? was it wrecked?

I will go see the car now. Im hoping they are just describing it wrong now. I can easily do the bumper and headlight. OR the car is totaled with damage all around, that they forgot to list. In that case I will stay far away from it.
