Shouldn't be any clips, that'd make an axle job a PITA. Hopefully your splines aren't chunked. A good twist and pull should do it. :?

im afraid the tranny is screwed, i hit the wall pretty good on that side and it bent the shaft itself, i just cant pop it out of the trans.

I had trouble getting my passenger side axle out last fall.... I used a 3 foot piece of one inch by 1/4 inch angle iron as a punch. I put one end of the angle iron on the large metal part of the axle near the transmission and gave the other end a couple of raps with a 3 Lb hammer. That pushed the axle out.

If you don't have a chunk of angle iron, you could use a small piece of thick pipe or something similar as a punch.

There is a circlip on the transmission side of the axle. The trick to loosen it is to jerk it out, not ease it out. There is a tool available from AutoZone's Loan-a-Tool program that, when attached to their slide hammer, pops the axle out pretty easily.

The slide hammer is OEM 27033, and the axle puller attachment is OEM 27058.

P.S. Some people have had luck prying the axle out using prybars or other tools for leverage. If you go this route, be careful of where you pry.

+1 on the circlip. I've always removed them by using a small pry bar and just giving it a quick jerk and they always pop right out.
