What is everyone doing about replacing the disc brake cables? I can easily find the front and right but not the left side. Appears nobody is making it any more. I would think I'm not the only guy in this position.

    Can anybody help?

Yea? I looked and they didn't list the left side. Have a part number?

Wow! Thanks. I'll try the conversion trick as mentioned at the top.

I work at Auto Zone and got a set of the rear sections last month, but returned them due to not needing them after the escort rear-ended another car. By the time it's fixed the weather will be above freezing and I need the money to fix my new dd.

Are you saying Autozone carries all 3 cables? Front, left and right? According to their website they don't. Have part numbers to share?

I looked up a 95 EGT since its the year of my car and all the rear parking brake cables listed are for disc brakes......it doesnt say so, but looking at the pics will tell you. The drum cables have a different end on them which is retangular hook, and the disc cables have the cylinder attached to the end of the cable, just like all the ones listed.

I would recommend 3rd gen escort cables, but the part that attaches to the bracket on the caliper is different then 2nd gen ones.

3rd gen cables aren't even close. I looked just to see if you might have something. What you do is buy 2 rights and tear one apart and re-assemble to make it a left. All items are the same just assembled upside down.

I now have a parking brake again! WooHoo!!

The only difference was that the expensive one came with the clips for both cables?
I used the old clips because I didn't like the way the new ones fit.

No links on your post so not easy to check what your talking about. But the cables, although they look the same for a 2nd gen, they mount differently. Unless you modify a right side cable, it won't fit the left. I tried it.

So does anyone have pictures of this conversion of using the right side on the left?

You really don't need pics. Once you have the cables and go to put them on, you'll see what to do. It's WAY easy to do.
