Does someone have a picture of the rear stub axle for drum brakes? I'm trying to figure out if there is an adapter that can be made so that I don't have to continue hunting for an EGT rear stub axle to do the rear disc conversion. John
The drum ones are missing the 2 bosses. Where I got the pic: http://mechdb.com/index.php/Ford_Escort_rear_disc_brake_conversion
I'm in California. Is the S/R motor and tranny still in the car? If so and they check out I'd like to pick up the motor and tranny along with the computer and CAI. Basically whatever I need to do a complete driveline swap. As far as the DB's I'll need everything I need for the swap except for the rotors. I will be using some aftermarket slotted and drilled ones so I don't need the ones that originally came with S/R. Message me and we can discuss the particulars. John
The engine and trans are still in the S/R, but I don't know if they are any good (odo had 193k). There is no difference (other than the blue valve cover) between a regular ZX2 and an S/R engine and the trans is the same. The Iceman was gone when I got there, but I did get the PCM (along with the shifter, Borla, master cyl and struts). I don't know when I would be getting back to that yard (I only go there about 2x a year), but I can keep my eyes open at the 2 I go to a lot (I passed on another Tracer rear disc set). The Tracer set will work without the ABS (you don't use the sensors). I have heard of people using the disc/drum MC on a conversion, but I got the correct one for mine (auto, 4 wheel disc, no ABS). I have another S/R MC and the modified EGT one I originally used (auto res instead of the MTX).
DAMN! The Iceman intake and computer are what I was most interested in. Oh well! So how about that DB setup? I'd really appreciate it if you could pull one that you see that is in good condition. Thanks! John
