So I've been growing angry lately.... We have had a lot of people selling off there escorts and then bashing them on this site. It's driving me up a friggin wall. If you didn't have the drive to make your escort what it could have been then don't come back here and complain about different aspects of escorts. This isn't the "cars that are cooler than escorts site". Yeah I drive a '03 escape but I can't wait to get my escort project going again. I've never driven another car like it and I can't wait to get back to autocrossing and watching everyone with the same attitude get stone cold beat!

This is an escort fan site. We love escorts. Would I compare it to a Audi RS 6? heck no. But it is a vehicle that can be purchased cheaply. It has a great platform that can be built on to make it handle like mad as well as squirt down the 1/4 as quick as your visa will handle.

In short don't knock it all you posers! if you would have kept the cool car you wouldn't feel like you had to bash it.

Yeah newer cars ride better than used ones. Its called worn bushings/struts etc. Just face it, you didn't have the drive so now you will be outdriven!

mwahahahaha

</rant>

P.S. Not aimed at any person but a general "Feeling" that has been coming across lately.

P.S.S. No hondas were harmed in the making of this rant.

I totally agree.... I've seen a lot of people here complaining about their scorts... but sometimes, they can get frustrated, because its not as easy to slap a escort into performance as a ::dropped chin:: honda per say...
especially isn't as cheap either....

I think most of us have escorts becuz, well its either what we got handed, or what we could afford, or even to be different. Of course our little economy boxes aren't made like some newer better car, but think about it, our cars weren't made to be fast off the lot... we have to do a LOT of work if we wanna beat someones ass on the tracks... but it is possible, and if you have the will, and the bank account to be different... your scort can be all that it can be (i didnt just steal that from the military did i?)

What I'm tryin to get at, is if you just had a scort and things didn't work out so well, don't come bac here complainin and havin ur nice new car to throw in everyones faces, be happy and proud you were an escort owner, and be proud you moved on.. I for one am glad of all the happy escort owners who save their paychecks like myself to do little things here and there tryin to build up a car that is ::dropped chin again:: not a honda.... I don't have everything against a honda, i just think its too easy for honda owners, you cant really have too much imagination and creativity when everyone owns one and everyone has used all the products made for one...

Us escort owners have to search and search and bug n bug companies to make them offer our car stuff... I believe in the last year, there has been so many products put out for our cars its amazing, i remember before... you couldn't find anything, so if we keep tryin... we'll get there I promise!!

ne wayz sorry i ranted so much, it just bugs me as well...

Laci

PS I as well am not pointing fingers, and if you have a honda, good for you... they are good cars, just not my taste..LoL no pun intended... 8O

Yeah!

I agree. granted I'm moving on to a better (because it's newer) car, but I still love my Escort. I just got sick of repairing things and the stress I put on myself to try to do as much as possible as soon as possible, top that with having little time anymore, and it was too much for me.

I don't know anything about suspension, yet that's where most of my problems on the Escort are.

All I know is MY honda wasn't hurt in the making of this post. I can't vouch for the Honda's in Arizona. :p

Okay, Over the past year I've dropped off the site quite abit....I bought an 88 Chrysler Conquest TSi and dream of actually buying something else but:
*I fixed my intercooler piping and flanges
*Dropped in the 460cc injectors and having problems tuning them down
*Figured out why my scort was falling on its face at 3800 revs
*And I'm now pushing 225hp pretty solid and have the Scort outrunning proven 14sec cars....just need to get it to the track this Oct 24 with a new clutch!

The Conquest...yeah its turbo'd but its an auto, so its my daily driver that I probably wont want to try to upgrade, and I havnt been on the site because, I'VE BEEN WORKING ON THE ESCORT! :)

I'm telling you there's nothing like whopping up on:
Mustang Gt (5.0L and 4.6L) 5speeds
Camaro's (V6 and V8 (havent had a chance with a Z though)
Rangers with 351 Windsors (hee hee)
RX7 (Turbo II's)
E-Clipse's (RS, GS, GS-T)
Mark II Supra Turbo's
Hon-da (insert stock anything, except NSX's)
Mazdaspeed Protege's
Nissan (non SR20DET, SR26DETT)

Anyhow its the look on their face when the see a "Ford Escort"...then see 8O "GTTURBO" ....In a grocery-getter!  :D

So, I haven't shun'd the Scort...just realized its too much of a beast to be my only form of transporation

I know the British Escorts are a different breed, but the concept is just the same - so a "Big Up" for All Escorts.

To coin a phrase ..... "Think not what your Escort can do for you, think what you can do for your Escort!!!" :D

Here's what I was looking for in a vehicle to replace my Altima:

1) The ability to haul all sort of *&$&, landscape timbers, mulch (bagged of course), cement, take garbage to the landfill etc.

2) Good gas mileage - vehicle would be my daily driver after all

3) Peppy motor and handling for spirited jaunts.

4) A quality product.

and

5) Cost less than $4000.

The first 4 conditions could easily sum up a Nissan Frontier supercharged truck but where to find one for less than $4K? Nowhere.

So I got the white 95 GT for just a bit over $4K. It'll carry darn near anything I ask it to. I've carried 1600 pounds of powdered lime before without too much complaint. Carried landscape timbers. I can haul almost anything you can fit in a pickup truck. Forget the F150 and the Frontier.

Gotta agree with Matt. Sure it's an econobox. That's what it was made for. But it's also a very versatile vehicle and doesn't deserve the mean-spirited knocking people give it AFTER they've sold it.

I've made my escort everything it'll be without headwork/turbo/nitrous, but it's still a POS. :)

In 1992 my Escort cost $22,000 (approx). Ok, I know we're ripped off on car prices in the UK and that prices of new cars have come down a lot, but it was still a lot of money for a mid-range four-seater. If I thought it was a great car then and it's given 11 years trouble free service, why should I now call it an 'econobox' and other such demeaning names? To me it's still a great car so why, when I could have changed it for a MK6 or an RS200, do I still hang on to it? :salute:
