I've recently discovered a leak in the top radiator hose which obviously needs replacing. However, I can't seem to find anywhere that sells the part. I don't know if I'm just looking in the wrong places but I've had no luck as yet. Does anyone know where I can find this part or (looking like a more likely option) a workaround as to how to fix this?

I would think a radiator hose would be easy to find in autoparts stores, unless the engine your car has was a rare one. A common technique on this side of the Atlantic is to take the old part in with you, and see if they can match it to one they do have, or even let you paw through the hoses they have (often hanging on hooks on a back wall). Companies like Gates and Dayco made 'universal' hoses, which were pleated like a vacuum cleaner hose so they could bend easily, and came in different lengths and diameters.
I checked at my favorite on-line parts supplier www.rockauto.com. For a 1995 Ford they dont list an LX for the European market, but under the Escort basic, they list two 1.4L engines. Since rockauto is based in the U.S., I suspect they dont get a lot of demand for the U.K. Escorts; which is probably why they dont list radiator hoses for the 1.4L engines.
Good Luck..
