Ok,I have the doors from a sunsport escort with the power lock and power window optain.......Now I've decided that I'm going to make a howto on swapping the parts into a manual lock/window car with pictures and I'm stripping the doors from the sunsport right now, but before I get started on transplanting the stuff onto my car, what I would like to know is aside from all the motors and the wiring in the door..........will there be any items I need for the project that are not in the doors or will there be any special wiring that I will have to do since my car didn't come with all the power optains.

P.s. I already did a search on this board and while I have found some good info, there still some confusion on my part, I know there are a few people who have done this and was hoping you guys could help.

Take some pictures while you are doing this!

I think all you need are the door panels, window regulators & motors, power lock actuators, door wiring harnesses, and switches. You might need an additional power lock relay which in my 1995 LX is under the dash near the drivers left foot. One more thing that would be nice to have is metric stainless steel locknuts to replace the (most likely) rusted bolts and nuts that you will be removing from the donor car. Such things are very difficult to obtain in the US. I think maybe only marine repair places might have them or mail order from Europe. M6-1.0 is a popular size use on my car. I can get regular stainless steel metric hardware at my local Loews in bags of 5 (washers, nuts, lockwashers, and hex head bolts). I try to replace all the steel trim bolts with stainless steel whenever I can.

One more thing, exactly what's an Sunsport Escort?
It's a california edition Lx 2 door hatch back with all the power optains, a fancy paint job, and rims.........nothing special otherwise.
And thanks for the info, your the only person to answer the question on FEOA or ERDT to answer it.......and there will be a lots of pictures if I get the chance because I wanted to do a right up on this.

keep us posted!

I have a 93 gt w/ manual windows and was wondering about performing the power upgrade (you beat me to it), Shouldn't all the door internals be set up for power? Seeing as any blank door could be for a manual or power option, it would seem a straight blot in. (hopefully)
Please let me know how it goes, Good Luck & take lots of pictures!!!!!

You have all the bolt holes you need. If you find an appropriate Mazda or Ford that you can get the parts from (perhaps a newer Escort might also make a good donor, it looks very similiar). However, the door has it's own wiring harness for power windows or not and it's different and you and I do not have this. It supposedly is plug and play if you have the right stuff though, just have to remember to get the wiring harness from the donor car also.
