So I totaled my 5 speed 02 ZX2 and it had 35k miles on it... I'm looking at a perfect condition AUTOmatic 2nd gen LX

I was wondering if I could swap my 2.0 DOHC and trans and turn it into a 5 speed with all the parts from my ZX2?

It is a fairly easy swap. Everything bolts up but you would have to get a fuel rail off a 95 contour with the return fuel rail. You can cut the wire to the crank sensor from the zx2 and wire it in to the 2gen scort crank sensor there for you will be able to run it off the stock 1.9 computer. You have to change the speed sensor with the 1.9 so you can still read your speedometer. Other than that it is a direct swap for the most part. It only gets difficult if you decide to run the zx2 harness. Then you are on your own

Just swap all the manual transmission parts over to the other car. You'll need to swap in the clutch and brake pedals, axles, maybe front hubs, all the motor and trans mounts. Since you already have your 02 for parts everything is already there. If you plan on using the 2nd gen wiring then I would grab the computer from a 2nd gen 1.9 with a manual trans and no EGR. The computer will look for the auto trans but won't find it and will throw a CEL. The same with the EGR because the ZX2 Zetec has no EGR.

How badly was your car damaged? Alot of times what the insurance company calls "totaled" is easily repairable. Like most will total an Escort because the radiator support (which is part of the frame) is bent but you can either straighten it out or get a new one for $60 and have it welded in.

I haven't seen the car yet. buying it back on monday and having it towed to my crib. I was only going 20 and I rearended somebody. I think that it probably is the radiator frame.

I bought a 94 Buick Le Sabre rofl it has 71k miles and is fully loaded with the limited package. perfect confition, has a very nice panasonic headunit

boiught it for 2k from a old couple who bought brand new a mazda 6

Can't wait to get my ZX2 back on the road.[/u]

Since you have a complete parts car to steal the parts from, dont bother hacking the 1.9 ECU to run the Zetec. Swap EVERY THING over. ECU, fuel pump, gauge cluster and complete harness.
It's gonna be a big project, but at least it should run 100% right that way.
