As the title says, I read up in most places about it and they said the clusters were wired the same, just different styles. I really want to put the tach in my car but the cable clips are different ( The SE i want to put it into has 1 clip that has an extra 2-3 pins on the clip itself, making it too wide for the zx2 cluster).
Does anyone know how-to do this? the junkyard doesnt allow returns under normal circumstances.

You'll need to find a tach cluster out of a standard Escort not a ZX-2. The cluster out of ZX-2 is not the correct shape to fit in place of the standard cluster. Here's a cluster out of a standard Escort. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Ford-...ash=item41dbb214eb:g:NDoAAOSwcgxaj6GT&vxp=mtr You could substitute your speedometer into this cluster and the mileage would still be correct. Here's a cluster out of a ZX-2 notice the difference in the styling at the bottom of the cluster. https://www.ebay.com/itm/98-03-Ford...ash=item1c549f4e80:g:5ukAAOSwrklVfwbC&vxp=mtr

Thanks! I went back and after explaining I removed the wrong cluster they told me to leave the cluster at the desk and go pull another one. I took 4K pictures of the back of it and went up to the LX hatchback and pulled it, it was only 100 miles behind mine :) so after removing the speedo and cranking the mileage to be accurate it works great!

You could also have swapped the speedometer section from one cluster to another to maintain the odometer.

this does not fit. with the finished appearance it is not worth the modifications needed to make it not quite fit as pictured.
