how do you check these sensors? I´ve got a friend who is an electrical engineer, and I was thinking- how phat would it be to rig up a little electronic display of O2 levels that you could put in your dash or something?
Are you driving an automatic or a manual?

your car has two sensons that are know as ho2s. this stands for heated oxygen sensor it is as four wire sensor so you need to locate the sensor signal return wire . One will be a ground for the sensor one will be a 12 volt supply for the heated part another will be a ground for the h3eated part and the last for signal return an O2 sensor works on a scale of 0volts to one volt. locatea dvom(digatal volt ohm meter) and set it to millivolt scale conect the positive lead to the signal return and the negative to a know good ground(batt ground post). Start the car the reading should go from 150s to the 890s back and forth across the 500 mark ( this is know as a crosscount )> the 500 mark is the best air fuel ratio (also know as stoich) 14.7 to 1 air fuel. if your O2s dont crosscount the you may hacve a faulty O2 sensor or there could be other problem. i would lean to the other problems as an O2 sensor doesnt need to be replaced until 80thosand or so.

Yes i know they say to replace at every tune up thats a scam to make money trust me i do this for a living!!!!

a thottle position sensor is a three wire sensor thaat uses a five volt reference signal to detirmine thottle angle . One wire is five volt referenc from your pcm one is a ground , and the other signal return locat the sgnal return and connect dvom pos. to this connect ther negitive to a know good ground your tps reading should be .6 to .8 volts at closed throttle and should increas steady without any dropouts or glitchs to about five volts or a littl under at wide open throttle
