A friend of mine has a 1g Probe that he just got a new turbo for, and he's giving me his old one! I was just wondering the size of the turbo on those cars, as well as whether or not anyone knows if there are parts floating around out there to make this an easier install, instead of me having to fab everything. Thanks in advance for your input.

    probe turbo....................

hmm.................if u have a regular escort 1.9L or 2.0L u can use and EXP turbo manifold for that turbo. if u have a gt with the BP motor, u can get a miata turbo mani and use that turbo.

    what car u have?

that turbo is a VJ-11...........fast spool......pretty small but can be high flowed with a vj-17............the cold side of the turbo off the ford turbo coupe. if high flowed u could see power numbers anywhere from 220hp- 300hp...............if tuned.

very decent turbo, matches the escorts power band......hits full boost right in the natural power band.

that is my site..I bought my kit one-off from tokstad-

that is his site. He has got out of the escort scene, so I ended up buying his whole turbo set-up. The vj-11 works great on a spi. Not many people have actually used it on the cvh. I have with a hi flo intake and open downpipe and it does great. Not too high of boost, but it spools so fast it would work fantastic for a tq monster auto-x car, no lag coming out of turns, and instant power. it's all in what u want. I wanted a nice reliable turbo car. Now i have 3 other vehicles to drive, so I'm swapping to a t3 and t3 mani that requires a lot of hacking.

very good turbo. especially if you hybrid it with the tbird charge side. but to do this you have to send it in. these are what i had on my mx6. same as the probe. stock i could take the turbo up to 13 psi before it maxxed out. kicked in about 1600rpm all the way to red line

Your supose to have it balanced once it's taken apart and swaped out the compressor wheel.
But I did'nt send mine in either, just swapped the wheel and housing and let er rip. It's been on for years that way.
