Did any of the 2gen LX's come with power windows/locks etc? I'm looking to put a 50% UDP on my SPI, but I have alot of mobile electronics and an 1800w amp. If the 2gen came with power options then I can get a stronger alternator made for a scort with those options and I will have a good setup.

yeah, some did.
it's a rare find, even back in the mid-90's when these cars were still being made.

What I have read in the past mercury tracers had all the factory wiring all ready setup for the power options. Some escorts have the power options but they all still use the same altenator. You could do a google search and look for a place that could build up your alt for more juice.

My 94 Tracer Wagon has all power (all options); My 93 Escort Wagon did not have power windows/locks/RearDefroster nor the wiring to support an add-on; Both have the same FuseBox & Alt.

my 91 pony even has the plugs for allt he power options, they only made one wiring harness for the 1.9l equipped cars.

the 50% UDP isnt any lighter than the 25% UDP, and wont get you any more power than the 25%.

all the 2nd gen escorts have the same output alternator, although the later years had smaller pullies on them, and so you could just choose the right sized pully to overdrive your alternator.

Just remove your door panel and see how many harness clips you have.If you have three you have the ones for windows, locks and speakers.

well, by everyone's responses, you already have the wiring. there's no way to tell other than just pulling your doors apart.

go!

Why would the 25% do just as well as the 50%? That's confusing me...

if you are going to add the power windows (which i have done) there are severl things to remember:

1) all 91-96 escort's used the the SAME regulators regardless whether they where 2dr's or 4dr's,.

2) you will have to redrill the uper mounting holes in your door beuase the ones for the manual regualtors are not high enough, AND you will have to add washers between the regulator and the inner panel of the door so that was wiundow will be at the right angle to easily go up and down

3) as long as you can get the wiring diagrams pretty much ANY power window switches will work... mine came from a 98 ZX2

4) and this is VERY important, make sure you use heavy enough power wire, i have mine running on 10 guage, i had smaller wire that actually caught on FIRE. and to keep from pulling to much power from somthing else i just wired mine directly to the battery and have an inline fuse, which means they are constant power but who really cares, hope this helps

the power gains form underdriving on a small low power 4cyl engine are redicualously low. almost all of the power gained by these pullies is by the removal of weight off the crankshaft.

its a known dyno proven fact that every pound off the crank is about 2.8hp freed to do other work, like spinning the wheels.

the 50% UDP that EFP sells is simply the 25% pulley made by BDR (and marked up in price by EFP) with a slightly smaller pulley on it. the weight difference? negligable.

I want to add power windows to my '93 LX 2-door. I went to a junkyard and saw a '95 LX Wagon. What is involved with doing the swap. Any sugestions would help.

What about the 4-door LX ( not the wagon)does it have the harness already behind the door panel and if so then is it plug and play for the wiring or do you have to get the power from somwhere else like 240SXSR20DET did?

A quick question about power locks. Is there an independant switch to lock the doors? The reason I ask is the only Escort I've ever seen with power locks you just put one lock down and the all went down.

Good donor cars for the swap

For those looking for the parts for the swap... check out the local junkyard for Tracers with the Trio package, which I believe all came through with power accessories standard. They seem to be decently available (at least in my area)... my local j/y has 2 there...

The 4dr regulators do not bolt in a 2dr. The track top mounting studs are higher in a 4dr. You cannot drill new hole because the top studs aren't long enough if you drilled new holes the track wouldn't be at the right angle. As for the wiring I took out the whole 2 front door wiring off a 4dr and it plugs in to my 2dr wiring a will run the motors off the switches. If I could fine 2dr regulators I would be set. This is alot easier then what people think it is. If you have a 4dr just go grab all the wiring out of the door, arm rest and switches. Same with the 2dr.
