hey guys I’m new to this forum. I have a 91 gt and I threw a alternator belt. I have purchased and am ready to install the new belt but in order to do so I must first remover the power steering pump and ac belt. I have loosened every bolt I can find on the power steering pump and I cannot seem to be able to relieve tension on that belt. Is there a trick I am unaware of or a tool I need? Please any help is appreciated!!!!!!

i am not too experienced on the 1.8 engines myself, but there must be another fastener holding it if it will not loosen. maybe try a prybar to force it to retract.

I have worked on a Mazda Protégé that I assume is similar, and there is a separate tension adjusting screw. Does your pump have the pump that requires you to reach through the pulley to get at the attaching screws?

Yes and there does not appear to be enough room to back it all the way out before you hit the side of the engine bay. I ended up cutting the power steering belt just to be able to put the alternator belt on. Power steering is not crucial to me but I would like to be able to put the belt back on
