I only know a little about wiring, but if it's like a stereo you have two options:

Option 1.) Run power to the 12v+ Switched(ACC+) line for power only when the key is turned on. And just run the ground to any clean metal on the body of the car (Or run it all the way to the battery if you don't mind extra wiring, although it is unnecessary)

Option 2.) Run the power to the 12v+ Switched (ACC/Ignition)
line AND the 12v+ Constant (Battery+) Line if you would like the ability to open and close the windows with or without the key.

    Grounding info:
Just run the ground to any clean metal on the body of the car (Or run it all the way to the battery if you don't mind extra wiring, although it is unnecessary)

    I hope this helps!

I would not run power directly from a switched source without using a relay. The easiest switched source to find on a 97+ Escort is the cig lighter socket.

I would have gone to the junkyard for the power window equipment, probably easier to install and always fits right.

Wow, although the OP is almost a year old, I weigh in on this as well...

2nd gen owners, please use the SEARCH button!
Power windows has been covered several times, the posts might be old like me, but they have all the info needed.
But, here it is in brief: almost all 2nd gens have the wiring in place for PW/PL, some even have the relays. The best bet is to find one in the JY that matches your model that has the parts, they will swap right in. If you can also find a 3rd gen that matches your model, get the front assemblies, they are cable driven and are much more reliable and operate smoother, the motors will need to be repositioned and two of the three holes need to be re-drilled in the door but they have the same wiring plugs, and you'll be much happier.
I still have one of these swaps for sale for a sedan/wagon, and I have a setup for EGT.
    HTH, Bill.

I have a 1995 wagon with power windows and locks... Are you saying a 3rd gen power window with cable (fits) in a 2nd gen if you re-drill two of the three holes?
    Please confirm...
