I'd wonder about the potential of hidden damage; particularly that which might create a risk for sudden separation while towing something.

i had a massive 5x8 steel box tube bmper 1/4 inch thick walls on my old 98 one ton chevy.. got rear ended at a traffic light. while sitting next to a state trooper.... my truck moved about 5 inches forward and the trooper just flipped his lights on and backed up. the other guys brand new mustang was totaled... and all i got was dust knocked off my tow ball. trooper asked if i was ok and i started laughing. then the officer took a look at my rear bumper and tarted to giggle a bit himself... i had zero damage.. other guy not so lucky the front edge of his hood was touching his windshield and the intake manifold wa shoved so far into the firewall i bet they had to remove it with the jaws of life.. the other driver kept asking if we seen his new iphone cause he was texting his wife when the accident happened..... i even got a nice check from HIS insurance company even though i had no injury or damage lol

So what's the story ? Bad lane change - someone didn't see you over there ? Keep an elephant as a pet ? Piss off the girlfriend ?

I haven't been around here in years. This is my car after the rear spun around in the rain and I clipped the embankment on the side of the road.

I'm curious, what size rear swaybar were you running? Stock, or bigger? And did you happen to just hit the brakes or crest a slight hill by chance?

Edit, real gt or just body kit?

No rear sway bar. I had a Quikor bar on there until it broke the mounting points for the bushings on the sub frame. I crested a hill mid turn and that was that.

Not a real GT, just a 4 door hatch with my old GT's body kit. I thought I had a gallery here but I guess not: http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=97

Thanks for the detailed response, and sorry to see your escort is trashed :(!

Crazy that it broke loose like that! I think its more predictable (although more oversteer obviously) with no rear sway. Probably just preference though.
