I looking for info, all i see is the poor intake of the 1.9L engine.
will a head port and flat piston give me a nice upgrade or will it be burning money?

Are you talking about poor as in "Less than 88HP" or poor as in "Only 88HP"?

If you're not making near 88HP, I'd check the intake for restrictions, fuel filter, exhaust for kinks, and sensors (In that order).

If you want to add power, remove the intake baffle below the air box. That'll extend your torque in to the higher revs. The rumor going around the forums is that the 1.9L CVH head will benefit quite a bit from a port, but I can't confirm or deny that. I wouldn't expect tons of improvement.

I also highly recommend reading through the What Can I Do to my 1.9 thread.

If you want to get crazy, I'd check out JeffscortLX's 1.9/2.0 SPI CVH hybrid. Too lazy to google that right now.

I meant only 88hp and read about the hybrid and 2.0 part hard to find. The thing is the biggest problem (so a have seen) is that it has poor intake. So am thinking maybe if i port head, intake, and swap throttle, I would gain a lot more.

Depending on your location, 2.0 SPI parts should be easy to find, every 3rd gen escort(in North America at least) came with one.

But yeah, porting your head and improving your intake are good ways to get a noticeable bump in power. There's a thread around here somewhere about making a gauge to test the restrictions in your intake, so you can determine what to change to get the most benefit.

Don't know what to do to my engine. I don't want to swap on less its 1.8L. Am think less money turbo, then tuning it all motor. My car is an 93LX, that for some reason untouched(engine) rev. to 7000RPM. Any and all ideas will be heard.

1.9 head is complete garbage unless its a HO 1.9, porting one will get you no where. most bang for buck will be to boost or drop a 2.0L spi and try to N/A that, but the best N/A motor is the Zetec 2.0L. Id boost or motor swap.

porting the 1.9 SEFI head can net you very good gains in power.. i had mine done by an excellent engine builder who owed me some work.. VERy good bump in power, especially when topped off with a bigger camshaft..

the trick is going to be not spending $600 doing it.. for that cash you can upgrade to a junk yard 2.0SPI and be better off ahead.

so do it if you can get it done cheap, i.e less than 200 bux..but its best paired with a free flowing exhaust, like an HO header.
