earlier tonight i just washed my car and i was driving around, well i got behind a Trans Am that suddenly just took off on the shoulder around two trucks. This is the 5th time i´ve seen that. well she proceeded out of town at 70 mph, when i finally got around everyone i caught up to her at 100 mph and flew past her, then slowed down to about 90 and let her TRY to catch up, to my surprise in 5th gear, she could NOT catch back up to me when i sped back up to 100 mph....my jaw hit the floor. so i did it again, we dove in and out of traffic between 70 and 110 mph and she couldn´t catch up to me. Then when we hit the Ohio line she decided she´d had enough and just turned, no signal or anything.

I told myself i´m the biggest idiot in the world. But i´m proud of my four banger. it held off a 5.7L V8 Monster at 110 mph. I think she was embarrassed too.

So what all mods have you done? I know everyone would love to be able smoke the venerable Chevy 350 but it takes some work be it with turbo or with some internal mods or bolting on a bottle. The 3rd gen camaros and trans am were wild rides. the 350 (5.7L for the metric folks) pushed those cars to almost 15 flat and nearly 100mph in the quarter. this was in stock trim. 240 horsepower was about the average for those. Let us know so we can all put the blue oval out front.

yeah what did you do to your car? My buddy had one with the ws6 package and they push out around 330 horses with no mods. Are you sure it was a trans am? I do know the power of the scort but I kinda find it hard to belive that a trans am couldn´´t out run you. Sorry man!

I swear the only thing i´ve done to my car is put in 2000 dollars in repairs when the timing belt snapped. Either she held back or there was something wrong with that 5.7L. All i know is she couldn´t catch up to me at 110 mph.

My Dad owns a Firebird Formula, and I know those cars damn well. I´m sorry, and this is no offense to your Scort, but there is no way she couldn´t catch up. My Dad´s car has a 6-Speed, and at 110 mph with a 5.7, V8, and depending on the year has about 285 hp or higher. She had to have been holding back.

Yeah u could have been pulling on her for alittle. You have to remember that if the TA was automatic 2nd gear probadly does around 90mph. So she was in that RPM range of where 3rd gear was just starting and i know for a fact that those cars don´t pull til higher RPMs.

I own an ´89 with a 305 (it´s def not stock) and even the stock 6 cyl Firebirds would be a good match for my ´97 scort.
Are you sure its a 350? Did you stop it and check under the hood?
Hey, keep in mind that in ´82, you could get a 4 cylinder in the Firebird.
Something tells me it wasn´t a 350.

No, I´m sure it was at least a 95-up Trans Am, Yes, I saw it, it said Trans Am, it was exactly like every other Trans Am, Dark green, twin tailpipes, tinted windows, and a blonde driver from Ohio. What else do I have to repeat? Oh, yeah, it was a Tans Am. It said Trans Am on the doors. I can tell the difference between Trans Am´s and Firebirds from the 80s and 90s...it was definitely from the mid 90s.
