Anyone done this. I am working on getting my turbo on the car. The mani and the turbo are on the block(it looks so sweet) and I was wondering what the pros and cons of taking the EGR system off were. I imagine it would throw a code and trigger the check engine light. Anyone know how to fool it into thinking it is still on the car.

I am not sure but I know now in new york if your car has OBDII they hook up your cars computer to make sure it is runing properly and it has no emission problems before you can pass inspection.I dont know if it is like that in pa but I would check before you attempt something like that so you dont fail your inspection.Just a heads up for you.

Yeah I know - my car is ODBI and the county I live in has no emission laws - you just ahve to have a cat(or something that looks like a cat  ) on you exhaust. I am just not sure if there is a way to fool the PCM to thinking it is still on and working properly after I plug it.

EGR

I have a 93, which did not have the EGR Option... so, when I UpGraded to a 95 PCM, the ErrorCodes 327 & 558 generate an ErrorCheck Light, because I have no sensors in the sockets.
The Mustang stuff does not Work.
Just, today, I put an LM3940IT chip (it's ground is to the Battery) for the PFE... input power from Pin 26 (PCM id) [about 5v]... ouput power to Pin 27 [about 3-4v]... and no connection to Pin 46 (a common ground, which already has correct v). From Pin 27, I jumped to EVR Pin 33... and I have no connection to PIN 37 (it was Power for the Sensors, I do not want bother with a StepDown to accomplish v inputs). So, far... the Car Idles in the DriveWay without an EngineCheck Light.

There is a guy on this fourm with a really nice "How to fake the EGR system" how to.
Just search around a little bit, I'm sure you'll find it.
Works only if you have all the EGR Junk and you just want shut it down.

Jeff is this what you are talking about...

It says it will work on an ODBII car, but mine is an ODBI.

Judging by the instructions I would imagine it would work for either because you are still allowing it to get the flow of air through the valve instead of removing it totally. As long as it doesn't sense the temp or the variable exhaust pressure with increasing RPM I would say that would work.

I remember someone trying to do it with a resistor and totally removing the whole system. I wonder who it was and if it ever worked??
