My 95 Escort LX won't start. I hear nothing when I turn the key and I have tried jumping it. My questions are : What is the likelyhood that the starter has gone bad? Is there a Starter fuse and where is it located? And is there any other thing it could be?

I would appreciate any input. (I'm hoping that I don't have to buy a new starter)

All of my fuses in that box are good. Where is the ignition switch? What would be the difference if it was the starter?

I gave it a long look today. There is a solenoid on top of the starter and it looks like the small wire connection has corroded. I'm starting to think that the wire to the solenoid doesnot have a good connection to the solenoid. When I turn on the car with the key, I get power to all systems except the starter. If I wanted to I could listen to the radio and run the A/C at that time. I will try the wire trick and let you know what happens.

It was the starter! I had to replace it today. Thank you to everyone for your help. I really appreciate it.
