I´ve added pictures of the Pacesetter cat-back install to my homepage. Also got a pic of the polyurethane swaybar endlink bushings. Here you go:

I´m not sure I want to let this out yet.... however it is related to this topic. I´m working on a 2 1/2" mandrel bend cat-back system. Could be coming out soon. if anyone is really interested let me know and I´ll see if I can´t speed it up. I´ve got some other goodies planned as well. I´ll let you know as soon as it is all finalized

I don´t have a demo unit availble just yet. I hope to have this finalized soon. however here is what I´m looking at so far.

2.25" cat-back with a "magnaflow style" muffler. no resinator. I´ll quote you if you want one inline. I have an e-mail into magnaflow about being a dealer. as soon as I hear back I´ll update. however the one I have quoted looks like it is the same design. Price is $290. I´ll knock $5 off for FEOA members. if you want stainless steel I´m looking at $460 for the same setup only stainless steel.

If you want a high flow flex-pipe or cat let me know. I can get that for you as well.

This is for the 2nd gen GT (and zx2). I need to find out what differences there are for an LX as I don´t have one handy :)

Is this exhaust a 2 1/4 in. or what size is it, it bolts up right after the cat., and it just came with a muffler there was no resonater inline with the rest of the exhaust pipe?

Cobra, aft of the cat is 2.25 inches, same size until muffler. Exits in twin pipes and the tips are 2.5 inches - not that that makes a difference. No inline resonator. I´m looking into adding one. Right now there´s a joint between the cat pipe and the B-pipe. I figure adding a 15" glasspack would join the two sections and reduce the drone somewhat without seriously affecting horsepower.

Zeemax, glad you´re satisfied with your Pacesetter system so far. I´m sure those pics will help someone out too.

I also ordered a Pacesetter system from NOPI, and was equally impressed with the fast shipment, and also with the quality appearance of the Pacesetter system, although I also am not crazy about the yellow tips, mostly cause they really don´t go with my car, but yeah hopefully it´ll burn off or dirty up soon enough. It´s definitely louder, which I like, but sort of raspy sounding, not as deep as I´d prefer, but not like angry hornets either.

By the way, mine is a 1.9L, so maybe that´s why my experence is slightly different....
I had it put on at an auto repair chain near my house cause it was convenient. I was pretty unhappy with the results.....I had some wicked vibrations that weren´t there with the stock exhaust, especially when stopped in Drive. Maybe I should have taken it back to the same shop, but I wasn´t sure if the problem was the system not fitting right, or the installation, so I went for a 2nd opinion instead.

I (finally) found a shop that does custom exhaust, so I let them look at it. The pipe that goes side to side under the car was actually right against the car´s underside, hence the vibration. The whole system was back like 2" from where it should have been, like they hadn´t slid it far enough up. I´m not 100% sure the problem was the installation, because they fixed it by adding in a sleave of pipe at the front end so they could more easily slide the whole thing forward. Now the problem is like 95% fixed. It still somehow vibrates when I´m in reverse with the brake on, but that doesn´t bother me as much. I´m wondering if the problem could be the hanger that you had to modify.

Funny that both of my 93 LX´s, one hatch the other a sedan, rattled badly when in reverse with the brake on. Anytime I wanted to leave the driveway, and had to wait for traffic before backing out, they´d rattle really loud. But only in reverse. Maybe something to do with the way the exhaust hangs on the LX? I wonder because both GT´s I´ve had did NOT rattle at all. Check the hanger leg though - I think it´s in the same place on the LX and GT - mine was butting up against the underside of the car and cutting off 1/4" cured the problem without compromising the leg - there´s still plenty to fit into the rubber hanger. Another step may be to replace your rubber hangers. They obviously deteriorate over time and if you´re hanging a new exhaust, it´d make sense to get new hangers as well - as they harden they´ll transmit more noise and vibration - exactly what you´re describing.

Zeemax, the rattling only started when the Pacesetter system went on. Before I had it modified last week, it was actually a vibration you could feel inside the car whenever you were stopped. Now it´s a noise only, and it only does it when stopped in reverse, including when I shift through R to get to D. Not as bad as the vibration, but yeah, I´d really like to eliminate it. Thanx, I´ll check the rubber hangers and the length of that hanger leg next. The noise is definitely coming from near the front of the system, like forward of or near the firewall.
:p
Egtdude, thanx for putting together an alternative to the Pacesetter system for egt owners. Not that the Pacesetter is totally junk, but it´s always better to have options. A system for the 1.9L would be nice too, but I´m not in the market for one now. I´m gonna try to iron the bugs out of the Pacesetter since I´ve already shelled out for it.

The cat on the GT is under the driver´s area - so it seems that the 1.8 system is considerably shorter than the LX. On the LX, isn´t the cat mounted on the front of the engine, just after the exhaust ports? You would likely have additional connectors then - that may be the problem.

Plans for my system: remove the ball and socket joint and replace with a flex pipe and add an inline center resonator. I´m thinking that the flex pipe will aid longevity of the system, as now it´s very rigid.
