So I think I'm going to do an EGT body kit/grille on my wagon...however, I can't decide whether I want to go with a shaved or a stock grille.
I'd love to see some back to back pictures of shaved and stock EGT grilles INSTALLED ON THE CAR...(basically if you shaved yours and have before/after pictures, I'd love to see it).
Sorry, I guess I should have explained, the Ford badge.
I've seen some ppl w/ just the angled slats with no Ford badge.
I'm just wondering if the empty space would look too goofy for me or not (usually I'm a huge fan of shaving/debadging), but it looks like a fair-sized empty spot lol
Yeah. I debadged the rear hatch on my wagon but chose to keep the grill logo.
Someone here was offering to extend the slats all the way across the grill. The pictures looked sharp. If I had seen them before I painted mine I would have paid to get mine done.
LOWETGT is the one that loves modifying the grills. A shaved grill looks out of place with the big empty space I think, the one with slats all the way across looks alright, but I'd kill for an RMM grill.
Hey LowriderS10, if interested in any grill design, PM me! And anyone else for that matter. The price for the labor is not terribly high. I am only charging $100 w/o shipping for the latest "GLX" grill. After the way the latest one turned out, I am ready to make another! I have several more ideas, but my photoshop skills suck. I have a few draw-ups of the slats vertical, but it would be hard to accomplish well. Each slat would have to be individually cut and positioned, that and it looked like a jeep/hummer grill. I have a few where the slats are put in horizontal and staggered, But again, difficult to pull off as cleanly as the other ones. I want to experiment on changing slat direction, but yet to find more GT grills. I may have a lead on a few grills locally, but willing to do grills shipped to me.
Thanks for the offer, man, but I'm not looking for anything custom as yours, neither am I looking to spend that much.
My Escort is just my winter beater, but I can't seem to leave cars alone, so I thought I'd start with the grille, since it's easy and cheap (I could get a stock grille for like 10 bucks from a local boneyard and shaved ones pop up used on here for 20-30 bucks)
I just want to see some back-to-back pictures for comparison...as it stands, I'm probably just gonna pick one up at the local junkyard...

You should find a way to make molds of your work so you can quickly make it on a vacuum table and that way you would not need so many donor grills, and a vacuum table can be made pretty easy actually.
I have done some research into vacuforming and looks doable at home. I am having issues locating theromplastic sheets available in small amounts for customer use. Anyone have any leads? Any place near me I tried wanted like a $5000+ plus order for the plastic! The places who make molds wanted way too much to do it for me. Also, I would assume I would be filling master molds with fiberglass to make new grills. I don't know what else I should use to make the new shell. Not only that, but I worry about mount copying and strength. I hope this is the direction I am going, have a friend who may let me make copy of RMM grill. So far the grills turn out nice because of the same angle of curve through out. I have to experiment with reversing direction of slats sometime.
