I´m thinking about getting an 88 gt for drag racing only. what kinda goodies are available? i would like to go turbo, dont want to swap engines. but I will build the engine. Iwant to know if this is a worthy investment or am I going to pay lotsa money and still get my doors blown off by some punk in a honda? any info is appreciated. thanks.

i´m also searching for parts for my ´88 lx (same as the gt minus ford´s gt aero package). the only parts i have found are those of British American Transfer. www.batinc.net. I haven´t tried any, but i know that a disadvantage is if the parts are bad, seeing as they´re the only aftermarket manufacturer i know of, you´re pretty much screwed if u get stuck with some parts that don´t perform. there´s just nothing to compare it to. i´d give ´em a call and tell ´em what u need. hope i helped.

thanks , I was thinking b.a.t. also. I did find a pacesetter header, but nobody seems to be able to order it? maybe they don´t make em anymore. i´m starting to think about swapping in a zetec from a focus. but its going to be a budget bracket car. no more than 5-6 grand.

Hey so this is where you hide.I feel like I´m the only one out here with a pre´91 escort.Oh and your 88 LX is not the same as a GT unless someone has swapped the engine.While they share the same displacement the 1.9 ho in the GT produces 130 hp the standard 1.9 only makes 88 hp.I will trade two running 1.9 motors and a five speed trans for a running GT motor.Anyone?
